Referees' Performances | 2025/26

There have been some really bad one-off decisions this season, but as far as overall performances go that easily is the worst for me by some distance. Looked completely out of his depth from minute one. Completely lost control at several points. Constantly in the way of the play, almost as if he was attempting interceptions.

Should never referee in the Premier League again.
Spot on. Not only some terrible decisions - it appears the refs have a different rule set for Doku than everyone else - but lost control a few times and made one or two situations worse than they needed to be (the Nunes/Henderson one being a prime example.)

If I performed to a similar standard in my job I’d expect to be hauled in for a bollocking.

Id be quite happy if they just dissolved the PGMOL and start again, every week across every match is just poor refereeing

Between getting refs who it’s their first game in premier league or just refs who can’t cope with key games and look totally out of their depth, which seems to be the continuing theme when it’s City ..

Surprised he didn't rule the first goal out for Doku playing a one-two of the Brentford player

Lost all control of the game, I know Bernie shouldn’t have hit out but the frustration of any small tackle given as a foul was a joke!

As usual awful but unlike some, just pure incompetence.
Some refs would have jizzed at the chance to give a penalty re Nunes and no doubt var would say not clear and obvious error plus send Silva off for hitting out so we have that to be thankful for.
However, 2 mins added first half was a piss take, should have been about 5, and how we ended with 4 cards to their 2 is baffling as they were fouling at will.with 14 fouls and thats the ones he gave.
City should call out the treatment on Haaland though, any other player and its a foul but for some reason he gets nothing inc his shirt being tugged.

Few heart in the mouth moments , some daft ref could have sent Bernardo off and Nunes last man challenge was too close for comfort , didnt think ref had a bad game overall , we move on.

There was challenges let go today against us that would have been contentious in a rugby game

Where do you start, it’s just not worth wasting energy over and that’s exactly what they want. I just hope Bernardo in his last interview for the club before he leaves gives it both barrels.

Same as other refs, death by a thousand “look the other way” decisions. We do not get half the fouls that the scum get and it’s not a coincidence.
Some said Bernie could have been sent off, but no way was that bad enough for a red. Nunes did not do anything near enough to even think it was an issue.
I want a game, one where we are playing for something, where the ref is fair and treats us the same as our opponents, it’s not a lot to ask (or shouldn’t be)
