You do realise we as a country are not coping with the current rate of immigration. Demand is outstripping supply for infrastructure, health care, housing, education. Immigration is undoubtedly a good thing but not at the rate that it is currently happening.

If you disagree with this statement , and I am sure you will, please just point out to me which of the four areas where we are doing well in, and which substantiates your desire to have unlimited immigration.
I don’t disagree with it. We need to tax assets to pay for huge infrastructure investment.

And not sure where I said I wanted unlimited immigration, which we don’t have now btw.

Sorry but to clarify, are you saying you don't think we are coping with the current levels of immigration? Sure we need tax revenue, but that comes from people we need such as carers, doctors, builders etc not from unskilled people who just end up in car washes and nail bars and who put a drain on the system. 1

Also if we don't have unlimited immigration now, what are the numbers limiting immigration, I've not seen any published by the last lot or the new government. Infact didn't the PM refuse to clarify what numbers were acceptable.

Also if you don't agree with unlimited what ball park numbers do you think we as a country can absorb.

The necessity is for businesses who only want cheap labour.

It always puzzles me how those amongst us who are the loudest against low pay and big business are so happy to facilitate them when it comes to the immigration issue which they abuse.

Being skilled and being a necessity aren’t always the same thing. Quite often they aren’t.
Fine I don't disagree with that, so what's the cut off then. What's the limit of immigration we can currently cope with. Do you think we are coping with net migration of 1.2m per annum ?

Don’t know but turn it around whats the minimum immigration we can’t cope without . Probably just as hard to answer.

Don’t have a figure, sorry.

Yeah, the hyper inflation that it would cause would destroy the economy.

To stop the need for large immigration, the country would have to change how it is run dramatically.

And that ain’t happening as the debate never gets to that point.

It only gets to “guess you’re all right with uncontrolled immigration aren’t you?” and then gets into a slanging match.

Immigration isn’t getting lower any time soon. Whomever is in charge.

The debate will echo on though, which is fun. :-/

Large numbers of immigrants that are coming to the uk aren’t coming here as doctors, care workers or NHS staff. A lot of them are coming into low skilled roles, as dependants and students (often for meaningless courses)

A lot of it isn’t necessity at all. It’s often cheap labour.

The simple maths is that the number are unsustainable and most people think that.

Of those coming for work in the recent record immigration levels, the largest numbers have been health and social care.

Then other skilled workers, and temporary workers (like fruit pickers).
