As a young lad, I once had the pleasure of visiting the nile club in moss side.

As a young lad, I once had the pleasure of visiting the nile club in moss side.
my old man and his mates used to go to somewhere in moss side in the eighties for sunday dinner drink..im sure he said it was the nile and they played blues music.any ideas mammutly if thats right?

Sounds like it could be. I went on a Friday night and it was reggae and blues, As I remember, I was the only white person in there and was treated like a celeb, but that could have been because my mate was a cool dude dealer.

Christ, that takes me back - I went to see Harlem Spirit in '81 or '82, playing at a CND Peace Festival n Alexandra Park with: The Freshies, John Cooper Clark and The Damned. They were all brilliant.

Harlem Spirit also had an ace tune called "Universal Man" (i think), a tribute to Bob Marley, I'll try and find it.

That "Peace Festival" was the most violent gig I've ever been to, when The Damned came on - the sky was filled with glass bottles raining down on everyone, it was like the opening scenes of "Saving Private Ryan". Great days though.
