Christ, that takes me back - I went to see Harlem Spirit in '81 or '82, playing at a CND Peace Festival n Alexandra Park with: The Freshies, John Cooper Clark and The Damned. They were all brilliant.

Harlem Spirit also had an ace tune called "Universal Man" (i think), a tribute to Bob Marley, I'll try and find it.

That "Peace Festival" was the most violent gig I've ever been to, when The Damned came on - the sky was filled with glass bottles raining down on everyone, it was like the opening scenes of "Saving Private Ryan". Great days though.

That reminds of the time that I went to Alex Park on the Rock Against Racism gig. I got in trouble from my mum when I got home because I'd been gone all day and I was only 13, must have 78 or 79.

well go and root through your collection see if ya can find the song i want..should only take you couple of days if you got them all in order

sounds long winded:
my auntie married a jamaican man who's brother's wife was the sister of the great john holt.
wow he came over to my cousins wedding in the mid eighties and entertained us kids with an old guitar when the party wound down/pissed thought it was good but cheesy, (didn't know who the fuck he was) knew he was some sort of singer tho'
so hear his music now and again on smooth radio then nostalgia kicks in.
