Regrouping of singers within the stadium

Could they not just move the away fans into the corner flag area which connects the south stand to the CB stand

At least that way you would have the singing section from 110 - 111 and all the South stand lot side by side

but thatwould mean you displace a whole section of fans who have sat/stood there since the move? like happened with the family stand which now sometimes has small pockets of empty seats and people moved scattered about seperated from people they sat near for years. I have an old guy sits next to me (been going for 50+ years) in 120 who was moved from the north stand to accomodate the family stand and for the money he can afford had only the optioon of where he sits, he misses nearly 60% of the game because people stand up, but never complains, Second year into moving me , my , brother, father and a mate all moved from the east stand because of cost to 120, why should we 4 or that old guy move again, we are building a third tier with no ties to any supporter, shift the aways up their like most other teams do, or if you want them near the singing section swap109-111 like for like so no one is seperated from thise they are with nowwith the, maybe would encourage the east stand to become more vocal and stir the south stand back to life
As much as I understand what your saying about why should you move I disagree with the notion of putting the away fans up on the higher levels for 2 reasons, firstly if they move away from the singing section it will kill the atmosphere as the atmosphere is created by both the home and away fans in a sense like a competition as you can see when different teams come with better fans it is a better loader game.
The second reason is that if they are above us we will be pelted with coins and all sorts of missiles etc from above which I have experienced at the swamp, the last thing you want in a derby is a bottle of piss from above. We do however need singers on either side of the away fans so the plan being put forward is a good 1 with the fact that the away support will be narrower the fans on either side will hear what is being sang better and join in together rather than different songs at the same time around the ground. My only concern as I've already mentioned is cup games because at the min the singers in the south stand are re located which kills the atmosphere along with the day trippers so we need a solution as to how we can accommodate the extra away support whilst keeping both singing sections in place.

The only option is the one that the op mentioned

Regrouping of the singers within the stadium shows that something is being done about the atmosphere which has gradually got worse over the years. However, I think in order for the singing section to find its full voice, the away fan section on Level 1 need to be moved up top as it still breaks up the singing section. When the club tried this move in the Champions League a few seasons ago against Bayern Munich, Munich's fans were put on Level 3 of the East Stand and it proved to be effective. However, I would suppose due to security concerns this is a move which the club are not considering.
What is proposed is the only option any thing else is wishful thinking ,so there is no point going on with it

Watching the Palace v Spurs game and I've had to turn the sound off... That fucking drum is doing my head in, so please sing all you want, but for Christ sake, NO DRUMS ... Thanks.

I know it's been mentioned already but this really is the best opportunity we're realistically going to get to improve the atmosphere. I'm in 111 at the moment and 110/111 are arguably the best blocks in the ground for atmosphere. However, while there are some top lads in there not everyone sings and on bad days it's only a hardcore of 50 or so that are belting out the songs and chants.

This proposal could see a full block/block and a half of pure singers all in one place. The potential of 700 or more singers going at it for the full 90 minutes regardless of how important the match is rather than as little as a few dozen or so carrying the burden on occasions is an exciting one and it should lead to the songs/chants spreading round the stadium better. If this goes ahead it will give us an opportunity that many other Premier League clubs won't get, save for the odd cup game. United trialled a singing section for their home game against Sociedad last season and by all accounts it was a success but they're limited as to what they can do for league games unless they moved the away fans section. With the whole of Block 115 and half of 114 being vacated for home fans next season we really need to seize the moment because we might never get a better opportunity.

I hope that the club will be smart wrt selling away tickets? That is, start from the top and if full allocation is not taken e.g only lv 2-3 this would leave lv1 for more City fans. Day trippers at that getting the full atmosphere.

Noting that they don't do this currently. Time to be a bit more selfish. Believe it or not the atmosphere does spread to block 301 where I sit and it's magic.

No drums they can kill the atmosphere . Atmosphere in chomps league game against bayern was spoilt by the Fing drum.

It's a great idea and i hope it goes ahead but can not say 50 of these seats be sold on a match by match basis?

The thing with having season tickets only there is that in 10 years time, some of those mid twenties blues will have changed and become mid thirties blues. This is the reason why the South Stand was fantastic 10-12 years ago in 2003 but in 2015 it is as quiet as any other part of the ground.

By having 50 seats all together available on a match by match basis allows those who can only afford some games a season or those that have been lost to the pubs and andriod boxes to go to a game with their mates and sing.

I'm 29 and no longer a seasoncard holder mainly due to the atmosphere as i cannot justify spending large amounts of money on something i didn't enjoy especially when starting a family. I have been all over the country with around 20 blues minimum who no longer go who are between the ages of "22-30" who's reasons are mainly "shit atmosphere, too expensive" who used to sing non stop at away games who would love to do it at home, these types of fans are lost forever once the routine is broken, we need to entice these fans which are in their tens of thousands back and by allowing them the opportunity to get a ticket in the noisest part of the ground without having any type of membership card would do this.

We should think long term on any decision taken now before we are having this same conversation in 10 years time again.

I'm not saying either that it's only mid twenties blues that sing as all ages do, but its that cocky youth that gets a atmosphere going rather than a Dad with mortgage worries.

Also on another point, can we not make the concourse more welcoming like a pub. Wouldn't it be great if we could get thousands of fans in there 2 hours before kick off and then all in the seats 10-15 minutes before kick off? Win win situation for everyone, including the club who would get the extra revenue, think of it as a simple City Sqaure for those who want a drink, some food and to watch some football either past matches or live ones. Basically Mary D's inside the ground, decorate the place with scarves, shirts, pictures and all fan given not official all look the same stuff, make it feel warm and welcoming.

great post

I always mention, but the only way to get that age group back the young lads, is to reduce prices, especially match day prices. At the moment once blues turn 18 they stop going unless its with there parents. you dont see groups of young lads anymore at the ground on a regular basis.

I sit in block 212 South Stand on the last seat of my row (1 from the back ) meaning that the away supporters are virtually within breathing distance! 11 years with my 2 sons. My point being is that I would miss the banter of which I sing my heart out having always been vocal. My age is against me being 50 but I cannot change what I am:) I think I would struggle not having any competition which I am so proud being able to boast about our fantastic turn around in fortune!
