I said it was their business how they watch the match, they pay their money they make their choice it was an observation as we were discussing atmosphere or the lack of it.Where did i mention 35,000 on the waiting list?? I said we have plenty of people who would take their place if they stopped going, which we have. We haven't been given an END as the whole ground is ours except for the three thousand in the away end.If you mean a singing end it hasn't happened yet though the South stand is recognised as supposedly being the more vocal end.If you open your eyes you will see the whole end stands all match in there and if not it is because the stewards are making them sit but that doesn't seem to happen now.
Just to clear the first point up about one end not working in the past - it didn't work because it wasn't advertised properly by City. There were families/day trippers and even Munich fans in that part of the southstand. Obviously it isn't going to be a success if that happens, this is different because the seats are being offered to 1894, so the only people joining the section will be like minded, and if they don't want to stand a sing, they will be vastly outnumbered in that block.
Not everyone is interested in what 1894 do, or in Bluemoon. But we all want City to do well, and the players themselves have said it, having a better atmosphere at home games helps them win.
Finally, in reference to your point about us having roughly just over 10,000 singers at any home game I have to disagree with. I go to away games and sing there, but I don't sing at home because I sit in the third tier - when I move to this block next season I will sing because I'm surrounded by more singers. I reckon around 50% of people at the Etihad are the same as me - they would sing, but not on their own in a part of the ground that is quiet. If this 1894 block get songs going, both existing singing sections will be able to hear us and join in which means it will spread across the ground.
Excellent post and one I agree with every word of. If this works it won't turn us into galatasary overnight. But having one bigger voice in the ground will mean more of the occasional singers around the ground more often.
Too many times in too many big games a 'moment' is lost because two songs are going at once.
