No, it was 9:0 to us at the time, but our first goal did come against the run of play from memory! The way I am remembering the day, the penalty made it 1-1 after Neil McNab opener.

Maybe so but you are dealing with some FOCs on here that don't know what day it is nevermind the bloody year this happened ;-)Match was 07/11/87 so it was 36 years ago today not 37?
I believe old Bernard was fuming that he had to give 3 balls away, and I'm not joking.
Oh, I remember that interview! I actually think the current managers of Arsenal and Liverpool must have read the 'Malcolm Macdonald guide book on how to conduct post match interviews'What a day. Nowt much happening till the first. Macdonald had PTSD after the match.
The club kept the match ball and gave each of the players who scored a hat-trick a ball each.I believe old Bernard was fuming that he had to give 3 balls away, and I'm not joking.
Used to go in the social club after games, that day someone I knew didn't stop moaning about the 'dodgy penalty'!!!Strangely enough, I also had it in mind that the game had been at 1-1 at some point rather than 9-0.
I was in the Main Stand as usual, where we regulars still managed to moan for most of the game.
It should have been 11. Swales out!
Good old Bernard ;-)The club kept the match ball and gave each of the players who scored a hat-trick a ball each.
Ken Barnes later gave the match ball up as a raffle prize at evening fundraiser for a blue he went on to work for which I'm fortunate enough to own also. Bernard was not happy as he lost four match balls in one afternoon !!!
Originally the MOTM was given the match ball which was Paul Simpson but he had to make do with a bottle of champagne instead as a fifth ball was refused to be given away.
