Repercussions - From the PL, FA, UEFA and within the Club

I thought the CAS case was the messiest saga we'd ever face, this might just top it. When the dust settles and the ESL disbands officially, we could be facing sanctions along with the 12 that signed up. Would you agree this could be likely?

Points deduction from league
Suspended season from CL

Now for the more difficult conversation - should someone be held to account in our club - I assume Khaldoon is the man that will be in the firing line. Should he step aside?
The points deduction from the PL is a non-starter. We have not even left the PL (or joined the ESL) and the much quoted Rule 9 comes into effect if you enter another competition without permission "during that season."
However I think UEFA could probably sanction us with fines or even a CL ban. It will be interesting to see if they treat the ringleaders LFC and MUFC more severely given they have been plotting this so-called "Project Big Picture" for a decade. My gut feeling though is UEFA will want to build bridges because the need the income from all the biggest clubs. I predict fines.

Repurcussions are needed to dissuade this from being ressurected.

Personally I'd be going down the route of a European ban. Ban all 12 clubs for 2 seasons if it ends now, if other clubs persist with the ESL idea then increase the ban. But here's the key thing, make it so the ban only applies when you legitimately earn a place in Europe so that the likes of arsenal who won't be qualifying anyway won't escape punishment.

Think you could be closer to reality there. Didn't know of that Rule 9. UEFA love a fine don't they!

This has the risk of driving clubs to seek further exits though, but agree it should not go unpunished.

Expect City to not say much to be honest. Got to work with all involved moving forward. Pep probably said all we will hear from here on in. The Premier League statement earlier seemed to want to focus on owners and not clubs so I imagine this will all get brushed under the carpet.

Expect to see City accused of distorting competition again with no acknowledgement that yes it is "unfair" that we can spend 400 billion pounds to compete but not that it is unfair that we have to spend 400 billion pounds to compete.

Liverpool to be offered a champions league history place in 2024.

Technically, we didn't actually leave for another competition. There was certainly plans to, but we never actually did.

A bit like the old scenario with a gaffer...

'Boss, if I call you a cnut, would I be sacked?'

Yes, certainly.

'Boss, if I think you are a cnut, can you sack me?'

No ...

When Ceferin made his speech yesterday making a direct plea to the English clubs involved, I’m pretty certain he was aiming it at us and Chelsea. He will know all too well who the prime movers were.
Can’t discount the Tebas factor though. That fat little Nazi slug will no doubt be agitating for his pound of flesh
