Why does a sports background matter? The differences between football in this country and other sports in the US is so great that it might as well be a different industry, so why restrict yourself to it? Haven't we recently appointed someone with vast knowledge of running a football club who can advise whichever CEO comes in? Why not bring someone in who has been successful at marketing a brand worldwide rather than mainly to the local market?danburge82 said:Or the NBA. Their sports deal with more money than football does. Apart from the Rags, the other most lucrative and profitable sporting clubs in the world are Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and Los Angeles Lakers. Who runs these ships?

Why? Garry Cook didn't and it allowed him to take advice and think outside the box. Don't we already have a former club CEO on our board? Maybe they could advise on footballing aspects to someone with knowledge of growing a brand BIGGER than United rather than people at the next level down. After all, wasn't that our owner's stated aim? We need someone to try things that haven't been done before to take us to a level above, not someone who will just do again what they've already done to raise us to the same level. The Pink Panther said:It needs to be someone who understands and has knowledge of what a sports franchise can market itself for. We need someone with vision and ambition
