Reports that Ancelotti deal agreed (denied by City - MEN P5)

Re: Reports that Ancelotti deal agreed (denied by City - MEN

Do you have a comparison for their first year managing Real Madrid?

Pellegrini’s 2 year record with City is in terms of results is uncannily similar to Ancelotti’s 2 year tenure at Chelsea. How anyone can look at Ancelotti's record in England and argue he is a big upgrade on MP doesn't make much sense for me. I'm happy with either.

Interestingly, probably the main reason Abramovich appointed him was that he he was a proven Champions League winner but Ancelotti didn't get past the quarter finals with Chelsea. In fact they regressed.

Ancelotti joined a Chelsea who the season before he joined:

- finished 7 points behind champions United in the league.
- won the FA CUP
- were knocked out of the Champions League in the semi-finals (Barcelona)

Pellegrini joined a City who the season before he joined:

-finished 11 points behind champions United in the league
-runners-up in the FA Cup
-were kncoked out of the Champions League in the Group Stage after failing to win a single game

Season 1

Chelsea won the League narrowly by 1 point and a record of W27 D5 L6 for 86 points. They scored a record 103 goals and conceded 32 for a record goal difference of 71.

City won the league narrowly by 2 points and an identical record of W27 D5 L6 for 86 points. We scored 102 goals, 1 goal short of Ancelotti’s record, and conceded 37 and the 2nd highest GD in PL history of 65.

Chelsea won 1 domestic cup – the FA Cup - and were knocked out of the other by a shit team
City won 1 domestic cup – the League Cup – and were knocked out of the other by a shit team

In the Champions League both City and Chelsea were kncocked out in the last 16 – Chelsea by Inter Milan and City by Barcelona.

Season 2

Chelsea finished runners-up in the league with a record of W21 D8 L9 for 71 points. Their was a huge fall off from the number of goals scored down from 103 to 69 but defensively very similar only conceeding 33.

City might finish runners up but with 2 games to go we already have 73 points. Similiarly to Chelsea the number of goals scored is well down – currently 102 to 77- but defensively held up from previous season with 36 conceded so far compared to 37 last year.

In Domestic Cups both City and Chelsea were knocked out in early rounds and ironically this included a home loss to a shit Newcastle in the League Cup!

In the Champions League Chelsea were knocked out by United in the quarters (having beaten the might of FC Copenhagen in the last 16) and City lost in the last 16 to Barcelona

16 seasons and 3 titles. Wow, frankly, that's rank considering the clubs he's been managing and their financial power and the squads they had.

As I said in my earlier post, I think the people who run our club aren't stupid. They won't be moving Pellegrini on for Carlo anytime soon.
He's also won 3 Champion's Leagues and the Suppercoppa Italia, Copa Del Rey and FA Cup. Do we only manage success by League titles now?

I'd remind everyone that MP has also managed Madrid and won the square root of jack shit.

Joined Real Madrid on 2 June 2009, the Merengues winning a then club record 96 points in the Liga but still finishing second behind FC Barcelona, prompting Pellegrini's dismissal in May 2010. That November he succeeded Jesualdo Ferreira as coach of Málaga and in the following campaign oversaw a fourth-placed league finish, the club's best ever.

We're talking about major honours, not setting club records whilst still winning nothing.

Well yeah but they obviously aren't infallible or they wouldn't have spent £200,000,000 on average squad players in the last 4 windows.

I've never said they don't know what they're doing. All I've posted is Ancelotti's winning record which is superior to MP's and said that neutrals would pick Ancelotti (which they would).

£200 mill on average squad players ? Pellegrini must be better than we thought then to achieve what he has with average players then . Maybe he should get a chance after the summer with some good players.
Hart, Zaba, Kompany, Clichy/Kolarov, Yaya, Nasri, Silva, Aguero, Dzeko.

All key components last year, all signed under the previous regime under Cook and Marwood.

Navas, Negredo, Demichellis and Fernandinho did well.

Willy, Sagna, Jovetic, Fernando, Mangala (so far), Bony... Really really poor.

And yet Pellegrinii has finished 1st and possibly 2nd so what is it bad recruitment or bad manager you can't have both.

Re: Reports that Ancelotti deal agreed (denied by City - MEN

On the other hand, they haven't had the pleasure of being managed by Ancelotti either, so how can they judge?

You're deluded if you think MP is in the same league as Ancelotti. Ask any neutral who they'd choose and it will be Ancelotti every time.

Ancelotti has been managing amongst the biggest, richest clubs for 16 seasons. In that time he has won 3 domestic titles.
Ancelotti is not the answer to this seasons problems.

Yeah, he finished first with the majority of the players bought by Cook and Marwood. That was good acquisition.

The players under the new regime have been for the most part crap.

Last year his record speaks for itself as he won 2 trophies - obviously good management.

This year has been a disgrace and I don't give a flying fanny if we finish 2nd as that is not an achievement. Domestic cups and CL have been a disgrace. There's no room for sentiment in football, his record this year (which is what matters) means he deserves the bullet.

Luckily we have people at the club who see a bigger picture and look ahead so I'll just leave it to them, not like we have any choice anyway. But if this year is a disgrace then I think you need a bit of perspective.

Perspective on what? We were the Champions last year, we spent more money than Chelsea on player recruitment, and they have soundly beaten us to the title. We've been beaten in both cups competitions at home to Middlesbrough and Newcastle. We've been soundly beaten in Europe (again). For modern day City, that is a disgrace. 4 match days ago United were 5 points ahead of us and we were languishing in 4th.

I trust Khaldoon but I'm not sure where this unshakable trust in Txiki is coming from? He chooses the manager, players and so far he's not done a fantastic job has he?

They might see the bigger picture but they dropped a bollock when they thought we'd pass FFP. They are only humans and can make mistakes.

So how exactly would Ancelotti of avoided all of this?
