Perspective on what? We were the Champions last year, we spent more money than Chelsea on player recruitment, and they have soundly beaten us to the title. We've been beaten in both cups competitions at home to Middlesbrough and Newcastle. We've been soundly beaten in Europe (again). For modern day City, that is a disgrace. 4 match days ago United were 5 points ahead of us and we were languishing in 4th.

I trust Khaldoon but I'm not sure where this unshakable trust in Txiki is coming from? He chooses the manager, players and so far he's not done a fantastic job has he?

They might see the bigger picture but they dropped a bollock when they thought we'd pass FFP. They are only humans and can make mistakes.

Here a bit of perspective, being soundly beaten by Barca this year is not a disgrace for modern day City, the best teams in Europe have had that.
And Newcastle and Middlesbrough?
It happens Bradford beat Chelsea, as did Burnley will they sack the manager.

Bradford City and PSG?

And giving the next manager the biggest contract of all time will rid us of that misconception how?

Anyway, this is a stupid argument going nowhere. They are both good managers, it seems, but surely, it can't be denied that most neutrals would see Ancelotti as the better manager, which was the point everyone is arguing about. Let's use the old Mancini argument and see where he rocks up next to get a better idea.

He's also won 3 Champion's Leagues and the Suppercoppa Italia, Copa Del Rey and FA Cup. Do we only manage success by League titles now?

I'd remind everyone that MP has also managed Madrid and won the square root of jack shit.

To be fair though, he came second by just 3 points to probably the greatest club team of this generation.
He did however do quite poorly in the champions league and domestic cup.

I do think Ancelotti is a small improvement on Pellegrini - but not in terms of league performances (which is what most people here deem to be the most important thing) and not enough to warrant sacking Pellegrini. I'd rather see Klopp given a go, as he'd add something to the identity of our club in addition to his quality as a manager. Even Pep (who I'm not a huge fan of, but whom the football department seem hell bent on securing) would bring that kind of Identity. Ancelotti and Pellegrini are alike in that they are bland and inoffensive and dont stamp their authority on a club the way a Mourinho, Klopp or Pep would. We need a manager who'll win, but we also need a manager with a bit of soul to get the media off our backs with the constant narrative of us being a plastic club with money but no identity.

Amen.

I wouldn't have cared if they did, he's a c**t.

But then they probably wouldn't of won the league this season and thus you couldn't use it as a point to make against Pellegrini.

I don't even know what you're trying to say anymore.

Because one of your points has sunk in and you realised it doesn't add up.

Re: Reports that Ancelotti deal agreed (denied by City - MEN

Seriously?

We are talking about City, City's manager, City's results, City's transfers and a manager linked with City.

If you have to bring up Chelsea to try and prove a point then you're just chatting shit.

No, I seriously don't know what point you are trying to make and having to wade through tonnes of gifs of naked men isn't helping.

Yeah, he finished first with the majority of the players bought by Cook and Marwood. That was good acquisition.

The players under the new regime have been for the most part crap.

Last year his record speaks for itself as he won 2 trophies - obviously good management.

This year has been a disgrace and I don't give a flying fanny if we finish 2nd as that is not an achievement. Domestic cups and CL have been a disgrace. There's no room for sentiment in football, his record this year (which is what matters) means he deserves the bullet.
Luckily we have people at the club who see a bigger picture and look ahead so I'll just leave it to them, not like we have any choice anyway. But if this year is a disgrace then I think you need a bit of perspective.

Oh FFS. Pellegrini fielded teams that should have been more than capable of winning both those sides but the players - the players - let us all down on both occasions: they did not perform well and nothing the manager did can excuse that. Also, the truth is that Boro did what they needed but really got away with robbery on that day.

I share Billy's views on Ancelotti. I have repeated several times now that I watched his Milan side a fair bit and they underachieved in the league. He also had a team lose a UCL Final from a winning position to an inferior side. I am not convinced he would be any sort of upgrade - except in perceived stature - on Pellers; I am convinced he would not be a significant upgrade and we should not make a change on that basis.
