Reports that Ancelotti deal agreed (denied by City - MEN P5)

Re: Reports that Ancelotti deal agreed (denied by City - MEN

I'd much prefer either Klopp or Pep, however imo I'd consider Ancelotti an upgrade on MP.

I also think if people were being entirely honest, and our hotseat was vacant and it was a choice of bringing in MP or Carlo then most, if not all, would have been clamouring for Carlo.

I do understand though that IF we are still confident of getting Pep in 12 months then seeing as MP is already the manager then it would be easier to leave him in for 12 months.

It's not what I would do as I don't rate Manuel but I'll go with the flow.

Hart, Zaba, Kompany, Clichy/Kolarov, Yaya, Nasri, Silva, Aguero, Dzeko.

All key components last year, all signed under the previous regime under Cook and Marwood.

Navas, Negredo, Demichellis and Fernandinho did well.

Willy, Sagna, Jovetic, Fernando, Mangala (so far), Bony... Really really poor.

And yet Pellegrinii has finished 1st and possibly 2nd so what is it bad recruitment or bad manager you can't have both.
Yeah, he finished first with the majority of the players bought by Cook and Marwood. That was good acquisition.

The players under the new regime have been for the most part crap.

Last year his record speaks for itself as he won 2 trophies - obviously good management.

This year has been a disgrace and I don't give a flying fanny if we finish 2nd as that is not an achievement. Domestic cups and CL have been a disgrace. There's no room for sentiment in football, his record this year (which is what matters) means he deserves the bullet.

If your saying we have underachieved this season as a result of the new signings, then that is frankly, bollocks. The real poor performances have come from the players that Pellers inherited.

I don't even know what you're trying to say anymore.

Because one of your points has sunk in and you realised it doesn't add up.
No, I seriously don't know what point you are trying to make and having to wade through tonnes of gifs of naked men isn't helping.

Put it like this
2 years of bad recruitment finish 1 st then 2nd = Txiki bad Pellegrini good
2 years of good recruitment finish 1st then 2 and= Txiki good Pellegrini bad
You can,t have Txiki bad recruitment then finish 1st and 2nd and then say Pellegrino' s results are a disgrace.

Truth is it's a mixture of things including FFP restrictions, taking a pinch and laying foundations for the next few unrestricted years when all this will be forgotten.

Point is you are saying Pellegrini needs to be sacked based on this season alone. My point is if your logic was followed then Chelsea would of had to get rid of Maureen as a result of last season.

Second point is comparing Ancelotti's past achievements (where he has been able to walk in to teams pretty much already set up for success) to Pellegrini (who hasn't been able to walk in to teams set up for sucess) is a bit daft.

My work here is done.

Right, the player recruitment under Txiki, in my opinion, has been poor.

Pellegrini did good last year, but hasn't done good this year.

That is all I'm trying to say.

Well I'll quote Garry Cook and say the current trajectory of performance at City is going down, whilst at Chelsea it was on the up.

You're point on Ancelotti isn't valid as he crafted that Milan team himself in to a legendary team.

As another poster said, this argument is going nowhere. My original point was that neutrals would pick Ancelotti. I stick to that.

Here a bit of perspective, being soundly beaten by Barca this year is not a disgrace for modern day City, the best teams in Europe have had that.
And Newcastle and Middlesbrough?

Oh FFS. Pellegrini fielded teams that should have been more than capable of winning both those sides but the players - the players - let us all down on both occasions: they did not perform well and nothing the manager did can excuse that. Also, the truth is that Boro did what they needed but really got away with robbery on that day.

I share Billy's views on Ancelotti. I have repeated several times now that I watched his Milan side a fair bit and they underachieved in the league. He also had a team lose a UCL Final from a winning position to an inferior side. I am not convinced he would be any sort of upgrade - except in perceived stature - on Pellers; I am convinced he would not be a significant upgrade and we should not make a change on that basis.

The only way we don't upgrade Pellegrini with Ancelotti is if we're waiting for Pep. To pretend otherwise is deluded.
