Results comparison with last season....

We were under the guidance of a well-meaning but totally inept manager last season. That we won so many games at the start was down to desire by individual players on our side and had nothing whatsoever to do with Pellers.

Mid-season Pellers lost virtually the entire locker room - I think that Hart was still totally into the games, desiring to win every one; probably Zaba too. But everyone else... just gave up. No motivation whatsoever. Totally the fault of Pellers.

This year we have the best manager in world football coaching our side. Not only is he a tactical genius, he's also tremendous at identifying talent, and at dramatically improving a player's skill.

That we have started so well has surprised me. I thought that we'd struggle for 2 months or maybe more adapting to Pep's system.

That we are playing so well so early on is yet another testament to Pep's genius.

Must admit I wasn't sure how it'd go early doors. I thought It favoured the rags having a derby so early, so that we've hit the ground running so soon has really impressed me. Results matter more but you can see that we'll improve. Spurs will be a big test.

i have to be honest and ive said it on here previously, that i was almost prepared for a season of transition and i thought it would take until around christmas before we would see the team adapting to peps style. I wasnt sure how it would go but the start of the season has been fantastic and our style of play for the most part has been like something i have never seen in British football before, and that includes watching some great liverpool sides as i was growing up in the late 70's & through the 1980's.

Its still early days and im sure we will have a few disappointing results along the way but my god, watching us now is like watching brazil and barcelona combined! Its high risk and im sure we will gift a few goals along the way, but im prepared for that if that means we continue to play this wonderful style that is being adopted, rather than the 1988 wimbledon hoof it high and long shite others are offering.

It's been an excellent start and we have won at Stoke, beaten West Ham and got the derby win. Furthermore we've qualified for the group stages of the CL with ease when that could have been a tricky game that caused us problems.

Now we'll really begin to see how good we are. The CL starts up again, and the league cup kicks in next week so it's about keeping the performances with rotation. We have to win tonight, and we have to sacrifice the league cup. I don't want to see more than 3-4 first team players involved at Swansea in the cup. Yes it's the first trophy and yes it's good to win it, but it's the least important of all the competitions we're involved in and I can't see us avoiding burnout if we play key players.

Looking forward to seeing how we get on tonight. Barca away at Celtic will be interesting. If we can beat Gladbach and win at Celtic we'll be in a good position to qualify and be on the front foot. With most groups having a couple of decent teams in, I don't know whether it truly matters if we finish first or second. Chances are we finish first and get the toughest second placed team anyway.

I really hope we can break the 90 point barrier this season

Ludicrously too early to be making any sensible predictions, but here's just for a bit of fun...

The Daily Express have us finishing on 99 points and winning the league 12 points clear. That would do me:-)

It's clearly bollocks unfortunately, since that would mean 87 points for 2nd, which is almost a mathematical impossibility. They also had Arsenal coming 6th, which I find a tad unlikely, sadly.

When supporters of other teams asked me what my expectations for the season were and if I believed we could win the league, I said that I thought we could, but after ten games we would have be within six points of the leaders.
By this time Pep's tactics and methods would really have started to sink in, players would have adapted to this new style and the new players would hopefully have settled
What's really helped is that we've beaten three of last year's bogey teams and out of those three only the rags had got off to a decent start, so this has certainly aided us, but we are off to a flyer
Looking ahead to our next eight league fixtures which takes up up to the end November, the two really tough matches will be Tottenham away, where I expect a full on end to end thriller and Everton at home, especially if they keep improving and continue their momentum

So do I expect us to win the league?
I'll be bitterly disappointed if we don't
