Results went our way in the "Carabao" tonight....

I do not see why tonight’s results helped us at all. People said the same last year with Chelsea’s fa cup commitments and race for top four. Similarly winning the Carabou Cup has never affected our chances of winning anything, in fact I think it has had the opposite effect.
They hugely helped us tonight.

The more matches our opponents play the better.

You say the league cup had never affected our chances but you don’t know that. We may well have won the CL 3 years on the bounce if we went into some of the crunch matches with 3-6 less games in our legs.

That's true, but that's on us trying to win everything.

The game that really helped us most was the one against West Ham when we got knocked out.
I think your logic's been twisted a little. If it helped us to get knocked out, I think it follows that it helps us that our only rivals for the title have 2 extra games to play - at least. Hence, my original post. If the results hadn't gone our way, Liverpool and Chelsea would have been knocked out, but, this is the right room for an argument, so, let's go for it.
No, on second thoughts, I can't be arsed anymore.
You're right.
Nite nite.

Some excellent points, but I think people are alluding to the fact there’s the Afcon tournament & covid is depleting teams, as well as Chelsea playing Liverpool early Jan,
(in unprecedented times) we may have still have won the league but with these circumstances you never know, but as you say Chelsea where allowed to build up too much momentum & it was that which cost us in the CL

No defensive midfielder cost us the champions league!!!!

Well I do hope those people are right but I think it’s wishful thinking. There were few players out there for the full 90 minutes considered part of the first 11 of either side and it could be argued it gave some of the fringe players valuable minutes on the pitch. Pretty sure I have heard Khaldoon and Pep speak about the value of winning the Carabou cup previously, hence we regularly play strong sides, and the likelihood is one of our rivals may benefit in this way.

Take the point with regards Covid but that is a big variable as it could decimate a side at anytime. Personally never like to see a rival doing well in cup competitions as I think success breeds success.
