Results went our way in the "Carabao" tonight....

Impossible to know. Did we not play a CDM because they were knackered/in the red zone?

Do Liverpool and Chelsea have squads as deep as City’s?

Would you rather they had more or less games whilst their best players are away at the ACON in January?

Not sure with regards the CDM and I think Chelsea have a similar strong squad to ours but Liverpool have less strength in depth.

To early to say with regards the amount of matches. If it resulted in a rival winning a trophy I would prefer them to play less matches as I think the momentum of winning a trophy is of more benefit than the likely fatigue of an additional, at most of 270 minutes of football.

The thread to me is a bit premature. If Spurs win it, beat a title rival in the final and our other rival plays their best 11 in both semis and get beat then it’s a valid point, but as things stand I do not see the benefit.

Think there is talk of this being a one legged semi because of fixture backlog.
As of now, it's definitely two-legged. Now that they've scrapped replays in third and fourth rounds of FA Cup, the plan is to play as many of the postponed games as possible in the two midweeks that would otherwise have been reserved for the those games. Had any of this week's quarter finals had to be postponed, they would have had to use the semi final first leg date to play that and make the semis one-legged but that hasn't happened.
Of course, this may all change dependent on the covid situation.

Im sure Serge agrees with you. Best to not bother with winning trophies and be happy when your rivals do.
Irrelevant to the point of the thread - the reality of potential fixture congestion, compounded by Afcon, Covid, and playing your rivals at the same time. We're out of the competition so, again, I ask you, is fixture congestion for them helpful for us?
Go on Johnny; keep the argument going , just because you have a keyboard - please say, "No."

Thank you, that sounds a bit clearer than the article I read.

This season I'd have to say Dippers seems as we are out of the competition. If we win it then football is fucked.

League Cup is nowt to do with us now, if whatever happens puts more pressure on our rivals then that's a bonus.
