Retrospective 3 game ban for Rooney? [Gets off scot free]

Rooney gets away with it

Lol

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will face no action from the Football Association after he appeared to elbow Wigan's James McCarthy.
The incident occurred during Saturday's Premier League match at the DW Stadium in which Rooney scored one of the goals in his team's 4-0 victory.
TV replays showed Rooney catch McCarthy on the back of his head with his elbow.
Ref Mark Clattenburg awarded a free-kick but Wigan manager Roberto Martinez insisted Rooney deserved a red card.
Clattenburg told the FA on Monday that he feels he took the appropriate action, which means the governing body cannot launch disciplinary proceedings against the 25-year-old England forward.

McCarthy should get a 3 game ban for headbutting Rooney in the elbow when he ran past him.

Re: Rooney gets away with it

Clattenburg bottles it, like most refs when they'd otherwise have to admit to missing an important incident.

And it's complete bollocks to say they can't take further action - Ben Thatcher is the precedent.

Just cast iron proof that it is corrupt and the FA are biased towards Utd and English star players.

I hope every other team in the league compiles a video of the Rooney/Gerrad assaults and if and when they are done by the FA ask what the difference is between thier players getting a ban and the players like Rooney being let off.

Once again questions also have to be raised about Clattenburg and his performances. Biased beyond belief towards Utd.

I mean FFS how much more evidence do they want, the video clearly shows Rooney running towards the player, raising his elbow and smashing him.

Pathetic and you wonder why the rest of us even bother playing or following football when its rife. One day perhaps the truth shall come out like it did in Italy

FA's own fault for setting the precedent in the past. its obviously the wrong decision but if they had banned him, united would cry abu but more importantly to the fa every manager would be calling for bans where the referee had taken action but not dealt harshly enough on an incident in order to get people banned citing this incident. after they took no action in the gerrard case last year they were never going to ban rooney here.

dosnt mean the FA cant start now with the fair and consistant rulings

That would probably be better to have a panel looking at contentious decisions which should of been red but you cant just move the lines in the middle of the game, based on the rules as they stand, its the right decision based on what has gone before (not morally obviously), they need to come out and say we plan to change decisions like these before they can actually do it otherwise it just looks like there punishing certain clubs.
Also the issue here that you only hear about these things when its a big player, these things happen all the time, normally the commentator says hes a lucky boy and you never hear of it again.
