Return of Supporters

As it’s a home game for 10,000 supporters and we have 40,000 season ticket holders (?), the ballot should have been season ticket holders only.

Loyalty points shouldn’t have come into it, it doesn’t matter if someone’s had a season ticket for 40 years or 1 year, they should have both had an equal opportunity to attend.

I didn't apply as I’m getting rid of my season ticket, how many of the people that are moaning are the same ones who were finished with football and city a few weeks ago with the ESL debacle? All of a sudden all is rosey again because we are going to lift a shiny trophy?

Thankfully Mary D's will most likely be open properly next week still celebrate this incredible team with fellow City fans

People are behaving like spoiled kids. I've been to loads of interviews where I've had no feedback and they've maybe interviewed 5 or 6 people only. Or have applied for jobs that maybe 200 others applied for and had no feedback.

I think it's piss poor when you've been for an interview but I'm not going to get worked up about not getting feedback from an application. I just accept it and get on with life. We're talking about maybe 50-60k here so I understand why the club can't contact all those who haven't been successful.

And i've not had an email, so I'm neither getting a ticket nor on the reserve list. So all those who accused me and City Matters of looking after ourselves had it wrong. Had it been done on points then probably the majority of us with seasoncards would have got tickets. As it turns out, it seems only one has. So if we fiddled it to suit ourselves, we did a piss poor job.

The two are incomparable PB. We are customers to the club not applicants for a job and as such should be treated as such.

Are you telling me a global footballing powerhouse cannot send an email or text about an unsuccessful ticket ballot application? They can send 50, 60,000 emails and texts when they have special offers on in the club store.

It’s basic customer service.

I’ve no axe to grind with you mate but with the criteria. Sorry to have directed my ire at you. Enjoy the game

It's okay mate I'd have felt pissed if I hadn't got a ticket. I have no idea how they chose who got one and I know there are people on 22'000+ points, I did say all that in my original post and that I genuinely feel for those who missed out. 10,000 was never going into 54,000. If things ever get back to normal I will no doubt miss out on other big games due to others being ahead of me in the points table. Like many now up there I went all over the country when we were shit and stood on terraces at Walsall, Luton, Oxford, all the little grounds when we were down amongst the dead men. Personally I think the hardcore 28,000 who stuck with us in the old third division either as season ticket holders or regular goers should be top of any queue, but even given some would have died off there still wouldn't have been enough tickets to go around.

It's no consolation but it's a dead rubber game and we've been very lucky to be there for four title presentations since 2012, three of those at home. I'm sure Sergio, David Silva etcetera will be back to get a proper send off when we can have everyone back in the stadium.

Fingers crossed you may be lucky in the reserve pot of some have to drop out.

It’s what City Matters agreed to.

We didnt "agree" to it.

The club propose how they intend to do things, we offer suggestions or advice and the club take it on board or ignore it. The idea that we sit there with final sign off is simple untrue.

If you're unhappy with the club feel free to email any of us and we'll pass it on.

And for what it's worth I've not had any email about the ballot and I'm really annoyed about it.

Understand the sentiment but that was 23 years ago. You could say the same for those that attended in 2006-07.

You can’t define loyalty by how long you have been going, it’s unfair on the younger generation.

I think some fans have to accept now in 2021 for games that have limited tickets such as this one or away games that there is a much bigger demand now with our expanded fan base and you may not be able to go every game and is it fair that you do go to every away game?

It shouldn’t matter how much you have spent or how long you have been going, a change of circumstances in life could happen to you and should that then be it for your chance of ever seeing the team at an away game again because you have dropped down the que?

If you didn't agree with it then sitting there and doing feck all makes you complicit. Certainly in my eyes.

Clearly City Matters is fecking useless when it comes to fan representation so all of you should resign and to make a statement.

You'll never have a better backdrop after the ESL debacle.

What did you propose, who did you speak to prior to your proposal?

Doing feck all? Let's have it right. The club wanted a straight ballot with Cityzen card holders getting twice as many tickets. CM negotiated that down to increase the seasoncards in the ballot.

I encourage people to express their dissatisfaction at the club. Please email me daniel.bowdler@citymatters.co.uk, I've not had one yet.

But too many people seem too willing to blame the City Matters volunteers for decisions made by the people on six figure salaries at the club.

I think you are wasting your time.

Getting bogged down in curtesy emails isn't the point, the distribution of tickets is the point and the way this has been handled has shit on some of our most loyal supporters. We either have a full on loyalty system or it's open ballot every time.

Having looked at some of the posts from the City Matters Season Card representative, it would appear he thinks we did ok. He certainly doesn't see it for the shambles it clearly is.
