Return of Supporters

Here's a link to an NME article in relation to considerations for the return of gigs. I assume sporting events will have a similar approach...

Not sure how many of our fans will not be taking the vacine but I would say at least 20 per cent. I will hesitate to get the jab to gain entry to a City match or anything else tbh.

There's going to be a clear choice by the look of it. Either get the vaccination and / or a recent test and go to sporting events and gigs, or don't and not be able to take part in any activities involving crowds. All down to individuals' priorities, I guess.

People who don’t have the vaccine should not be treated any different from those that do.
just leave everyone out of stadiums until Aug 2021

If you dont have the vaccine i hope you cant get in anywhere with crowds , your choice
Some won’t be able to, but with the new lateral flow tests giving results in 20 minutes, anyone not vaccinated could just be able to take one of those, and be let in.

Good in theory but imagine a crowd of a few thousand let alone tens of thousands, for things like the theatre etc then yes

I favour everyone vaccinated gets a card , like a credit card , if you dont want to be vaccinated then that is tough , we have to protect each other

I don’t know if we’ll get any card when we are vaccinated, we don’t for flu. Assuming we do though will it be checkable by the turnstiles ?
For arguments sake though lets assume it is checked. Those that can’t have a vaccine for various reasons not just from choice must be allowed to take a test and be issued with a pass that also gets them in. Can’t imagine the numbers of those not vaccinated will be that high.

That sounds reasonable and hopefully some of the ones that just don't want the vaccine will get it in order to go to the match.

Sounds like a plan , get there mega early, someone off site and take a test or if we can get hold of these tests ,say from amazon , you could take it at home and take it with you

All sounds good in practice but i expect a nightmare to administer

Won’t be easy but then checking 55000 people’s vaccination status won’t be either.
Not sure either whether there is any intention of vaccinating children and if so what age will that be done? So will they be allowed in?

From my understanding the vaccines have not been tested in children , for medicines you are counted as an adult at sixteen, seems likely that will happen

I have in mind the vaccination card would be like a card swipe , again not practical i suppose

Surely proof that you have been vaccinated can be added to the Covid 19 app.
And then scan a barcode at the turnstiles just like you do when going into Wetherspoons etc.

The more I think about this, the more unlikely I think it seems.
Maybe by the summer we’ll know what the vaccine take up is. If it’s high then maybe we’ll just hope for herd immunity through vaccine. Throwing out figures off the top of my head , say take up was 75-80% plus any immunity for those that have had it, would that reduce spread of covid enough so that a non vaccinated person coming into contact with another non vaccinated person still carrying the virus is so unlikely that those that were un protected should be left to take the risk if thats their choice, after all thats what will happen in your supermarket or on the bus / tram to work or in the pub.

There's one of my neighbours who's concerned about this. She has MS so has drugs to suppress her immune system so won't be able to take the vaccine.
She goes to a lot of gigs & doesn't want to miss out. I guess there'll be wavers for those in her position, or the chance to take a lateral test as mentioned earlier.

We:re going to require annual visas to travel to the EU from next year. I assume we'll need vaccination QR codes to apply for these & visas for other countries where required too.
Could make CL away games a tad complex (assuming we qualify for the CL next season).
Wouldn’t have thought so unless the EU as a whole requires vaccination proof for entry as individual members will go back to free movement.

I'd be surprised. Something tells me travel will be kicked down the road. The med cries out for British tourism, why would the EU restrict it.
