Rewriting history

i first read it for o'level in the 70's.
must've read it dozens of times since.

have you read the original version of the life and adventures of robinson crusoe?
they had a different way with words in 1719, some of it is baffling.
I did exactly the same with "Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper.
It was written in 18th English and I really struggled with it,so much so that I eventually gave up with it, and just watched Daniel Day-Lewis play the part of Nathaniel instead.

mightn't there be exceptions, though?
for example, i have a copy of this...

it seems very wrong nowadays.

It’s all just a way of trying to keep them selling.

Dahl in particular, never understood the continuing push and popularity of him. Plenty of much better childrens books about, I’d argue even from the same era let alone in the decades since.

I have the book with the same cover but it is an old copy. Its name was later to changed to '10 Little Indians' (with a matching rhyme) and then later again to 'And Then There Were None'.

I think they use the rhyme '10 Little Soldier Boys' in the current version.

yeah, that's right.

the content of the book isn't at all racist.
the title only stems from it taking place on n****r island, supposedly just off the coast of devon.

I think Dahl's book about the Big Fucking Girl'sblouse was very inclusive...
I shall take my ban like whichever person, other beast, plant or inanimate object I decide to identify with in court...
(P.s whatever happened to the "ahem, strawberry blondes" thread? 'Istry re-written right there, Ric's servers are riddled with historical filth - string him/her/them up)

The Strawberry blonde thread was moved due to Ric appearing in it. As strawberry blonde as they come and I'll hear no nonsense about looking like an Icelandic footballer.

Correct Gods missus was erased as having 2 gods and one being a lass was far too risky for them monks.

Jesus wife also written out

And Pope Gregories complete rewriting of Mary Madgelene
The new testament was originally a mishmash of older stories handed down by word of mouth and collated by a group of people in the 4th century. Yes that's nearly 400 years after the event. By word of mouth. So of course they are believable. And accurate. Chinese whispers for 400 years. And still we search for the word 'Jesus' in any 1st century texts. You'd have thought the Romans, who were very big on writing stuff down, would have recorded the name.

Jesus had a Wife? Allah be praised.
