Rewriting history

The new testament was originally a mishmash of older stories handed down by word of mouth and collated by a group of people in the 4th century. Yes that's nearly 400 years after the event. By word of mouth. So of course they are believable. And accurate. Chinese whispers for 400 years. And still we search for the word 'Jesus' in any 1st century texts. You'd have though the Romans, who were very big on writing stuff down, would have recorded the name.

Jesus had a Wife? Allah be praised.
if the believers actually pay attention to the content of the bible instead of hurrying through their daily devotionals, they might notice the contradictions and realise, as you say, that it cannot possibly be accurate...

Then when Judas, his betrayer, saw that Jesus was condemned, he changed his mind and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests... ...he departed, and he went and hanged himself".
so says
Matthew 27:3-8

whereas Luke in Acts 1:18-19 says
“Now this man acquired a field with the reward of his wickedness and falling headlong he burst open in the middle, and all his bowels gushed out. And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem so that the field was called in their own language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.

judas cannot possibly have hanged himself after returning the money and also have bought a field into which his guts burst open.

if those god-botherers with "WHY THE BIBLE IS THE TRUTH" booklets accosts you on market street and you mention this to them they look at each other in confusion.

what a strange world we live in.

Luke has many issues, and iirc is quite different to other chapters. Much of it appears to be human committee written to force ancient religious prophesies into a biblical story arc context.
As with many biblical stories there are many that don’t make any sense - the bit about a census, and everyone having to return to the place where they were born to take part in the census…

I remember reading the Da Vinci code I think and they mentioned the Vatican having lots of stuff never printed including the bits that chronicled Jesus life after he was born upto when we meet him preaching, I wonder how true it is.

Books have always been rewritten and language is always evolving. Dahl himself changed the original Oompah Lumpahs, following a heated debate with someone in the states about slavery.

This isn’t about ‘wokeism‘, as the press and the usual suspects would have you believe, and it’s really not anything anyone should be getting upset about (well, not for the reasons many seem to be ‘getting upset’ anyway).

This is about £££££, as everything in this world now seems to be, with the UK particularly prevalent in that area.

Who changed the wording in the Dahl books? The publisher Penguin Books. Why did they change them? I’ll give you a clue. You can now buy the complete works, either in their ‘original’ form or in their new ‘rewritten‘ form.
The Unaltered 16 books Classic Collection as it’s been styled.

Ever get the feeling we’re all being had?…….

Just think of all that free marketing as well.

Matthew, Mark and Luke are fairly similar, hence The Synoptic Gospels. John’s is quite different in style and content.
