Rewriting of History - Part II

lastmanback..
you didn't answer my question. i'll put it slightly differently...

If we finish mid-table or worse (10th or below), with no Uefa cup (as you don't expect),
would you keep Hughes if Jose was available and wanted to come?

Haha, yeah you're right that I too can't be bothered going back through previous messages! Not after an argument or owt, just seems that you've become preoccupied by your feelings against the manager. If we win, seems it's despite him if we lose, it's because of him. Like I said, rationality is all I'm after.

Not really true. After the Everton game I was one of the few that didn't blame the manager. After the Racing match I was full of praise for the way we went about the group stages. Even the Blackburn game I posted that he deserved credit for the Sturridge/Caicedo sub (while being condemned to burn in hell for the Vass/Elano sub).

But generally when we lose it's not too hard to find a gripe, and he's given me plenty of ammunition in recent months.

Elano played well, but he needed to come off, he has a tendency to slow the game down. We needed to up the tempo, and get players in their box, to get back in the game.

Ric, Moomba, lastmanback and all who have contributed to this thread, a question..

if we finish mid-table and don't win the Uefa cup would you have him gone and take Jose for the start of next season?

Mid table being 8th-12th? If so, then I wouldnt be too dismayed if he were sacked, depending on who we get in. I dont expect us to win a trophy this season tho.

We do need to get in europe tho. Finishing 7th could do that if trophy's are won by the top teams right?

I've seen too many people give credit to Vass for his performance in the game to even bother about arguing that point.

Or we could just win the F.A. Cup, make it easier for everyone ;-P

lastman,
I take your point about Jose wanting top profile clubs, but won't we fit that category by 09/10?
We will (I hope) be attracting big names, able to pay our manager big money and still have our big if not bigger attendances.

We are also "a project" in that it would be a true test of a great manager to make us champions.
I know this may sound daft but wouldn't it get boring for Jose to keep going to already established big clubs (inter, Porto) who have won before - trying to replicate success.
City in that respect are a different challenge.

Plus Chelsea were pretty similar to City when he took over, not won that much (ok, a bit more than us) and had loadsa cash.

Ok, I'll take that as a reluctant agreement to my point.

You can take it how you like.

Makes me laugh how you all take mid table as a shoe in. Far from it IMO. Hughes has massively underachieved with this squad and shows bad man management skills. It will get worse and the sooner he's gone, the better.
