It's about both.
I originally made the point that most Italian players haven't really taken to PL and it's broadened out from there.

Di Canio had his moments too.
Benito Carbone was decent too. There have been a lot of brilliant Italian players in this league with the likes of Vialli, Zola, Di Matteo, Di Canio, Mario and even Maresca did well at West Brom.
 
Didn’t play enough. In the season that he scored that winner, he played 4 games, which back then disqualified him from a medal.

In 2010/11, he played 7 times, but it seems the cut off was 10 games.

He’d have got one these days though.
I remember the rags thinking he was Baggio when he scored against Villa
