Richard Dunne will not be forced out of City

The problem over the years with Dunne is that he is one of those players who are so unlucky. Every little mistake he makes gets punished and he has been at fault for a lot of goals, scored a lot of own goals and gets skinned easily and gets sent off. I know people say well he saved us a lot of goals too, but thats a defenders job to be honest!!

I really like Dunne, but I can't hold my hand up and say he would be in my squad for next year

For those who are slating Dunne. He is still our club captain. If Hughes had his doubts that would of changed by now. Ref a testomonial. I am not a great fan of them now a days as I dont know a millionaire who needs ten pounds or so of my money however with Dunne it is different. It should be to remember him sticking with the club during thick and thin, He would no doubt give it to a good cause. Remember Disitn??

If it's true that Dunnie rejected the move to Sunderland then surely that means the Hughes must be willing to let him go if he wants to leave?

Richard Dunne is a class player who (by his own very high standards) had a very poor season last year. Some people either have very short memories or absolutely no idea - judging from some of the rubbish I've read on here.

If he does leave City, you watch where he goes and what impact he'll make for his new club...

Rubbish, class players can pass the ball.

I'll know not to bother reading any of your posts in future, seeing that they're totally vacuous, Mr 'Know It All'.

It's good to see that there is vocal support on here for Richard Dunne and intelligent opinion. We don't all have to agree on matters, but reasoned and sensible argument is always welcome.

Some people seem to want to come on here just to rubbish others (posters and players alike) perhaps because they are overly enamoured with the 'sound' of their own voice or don't feel comfortable about themselves unless they're denigrating others. Who knows?

Even with our newer signings, I wouldn't be so quick to write off one of our most consistent and impressive performers. Remember what some were saying about one Stephen Ireland not so long ago?

Maybe our captain will retain his place and turn in top-notch performances once again.

For someone of Richard's calibre, I'd hate to see him leave this season. He can still do it, and I'd love to see him prove the knockers wrong.

I'd just love it...

;o)

Richard Dunne has been a good loyal player for the team. Hughes does not like him as far as I can see; dressing room steward and leader of the gang. Hughes has set about undermining him and bringing in new players/leaders. Ironically one intended was Terry, a big dressing room steward at Chelsea. This failure should have taught Hughes the value of having players with genuine club loyalty, but it wont have.

It is a big failure of Hughes management that he cannot work with and get the best out of existing players. Dunne does make some errors but so do the John Terrys of this world, it is just the latters are not highlighted the same by the biased media. Richard is outstanding for his country and has been for his club, player of the year 4 times running.

No player will be at their best in a team poorly organised and structured and lacking in tactics; like our team last year. Mark Hughes failed spectacularly last year imho and was found tactically void (not wanting); he only knows how to set up a team to defend in depth and counter attack.

I want Mark and Richard to succeed, I want them to work together, but I fear neither will happen.

I believe Dunne will be on the bench at best this year, and Hughes floudering by Christmas due to lack of managerial ability ; espeicially a lack of communication with players inorder to get the best out of them. Also a lack of ability to set a team up to play to each players strengths.

Either way the culture is changing at City, sometimes for the better, other times for the worse.
