Richard Dunne

Dunne's alright providing we can keep him facing the correct way whilst out on the pitch ..... there's absolutely no doubt that he's got the class to beat Shay Given!

I think that Dunnie shoulf definitely stay, some of the red cards were not his fault, one was in the tottenham game when the pitch was a puddle and even Flash 'Arry admitted that it wasn't a bad tackle at all and the ref was wrong.

And the one after kicking out at Zaki was stupid, but he had been getting clobbered in the head so i don't blame him for that one, just should have kicked him harder. However poetic justice if ever i saw it when Zaki headed it over the bar from a yard in front of an open goal.

I think sometimes Dunnie is so desperate for them not to score that he throws himself in the way in an atempt to avoid what he thinks may be a certain goal even if he does get sent off for it. (Hamburg game is a good example) Taking one for the team so to speak.

Also, i think he throws himself in the way of so many shots that it is a law of averages that sometimes one of them will hit off him and into the net.

Plus, with our 1-1-8 formation we need to balance things out for the other team but having Dunnie score a few for them! - I jest.

I am officially backing Dunnie to stay. And i think the idea of losing him as made some fans realise what a loss that would be to our club.

I think you are the only person thinking he's top quality. He is by far a legend at city and how far we have come but at then end of the day so is distin he was as good if not better, bailed dunne out a lot, but yes dunne is a big part of city, he isn't as good as he used to be though!

Dunney has got to stay with us for at least one more season, yes he`s had his fair share of mistakes but I reckon he is still one of the prems best defenders.

hes still a top class defender and will prove his worth next year, has had his problems last year and was the target for a lot of stick especially on here, but then again they were baying for stevies blood the season before and wanting him sold to sunderland and look what happened! it seems some "FANS" are not happy year on year unless they are targeting a player from almost the first kick of the season.i can see dunne making a few people eat humble pie this up and coming season.

TERRY, LESCOT, DUNNE. i know who i woulde have.

I think that some of the grief that dunney has been gettin is unfair hes been a great player for the club and some people seems to forget that when they are callin him!! Yes he makes mistakes but hes makin mistakes tryin to cover other players positions which in the 1st part hed to do alot therefore concentratin on his game alot less because of this! I think dunne will be a great player for us next season he bailed us out so many times last season and deserves us to be as loyal to him as he has been to us. IMO i think he is a better player than lescott who i think is overratted and not worth the 15mil were offerin, the only thing he can do that dunney doesnt is score in the rite net lol!!
I hope dunney proves all the doubters wrong next season as captain ov our club and goes on to be the 1st captain in years to lift a trophey for us :-)

I think we have to remember that beyond the back four last season we had 6 players that all wanted to get forward with little regard for what was going on behind them, and therefore leaving absolutely no cover for the four of them. It's part of the reason why Richards nosedived as well.

IMO Dunney started to get his form back once we signed De Jong to offer that cover and a decent Goalie behind him as well (I do rate Hart but he is nowhere near the finished article yet).

Also, I believe the aforementioned player awards say it all and show that he has the ability.

And even if he had lost it (which i don't believe he has), with the money we have we can afford to be sentimental and loyal to him
Agreed, the away game in Hamburg was a case in point, Dunne had absolutely no cover in front of him and was hopelessly exposed, as was the rest of the back four and Given. I wouldn't sell him for several reasons, those being
1. He's still a very good player, in spite of his habitual own goals and sendings off
2. We don't need the money
3. He's been incredibly loyal, staying at the club in the post-Pearce, pre-Sven vacuum when Distin left
4. He kept us up along with Distin and Barton in 06/07, I lost count of his great displays in that campaign, most notably at home to Arsenal when he won us the match with a resolute display
5. His performances for the Republic lately have been of the highest quality, most notably the game against Bulgaria
6. People have short memories - it was only a year and a half ago that he had arguably his greatest ever displays in a City shirt, against tough opposition - home to Liverpool and away to United, the former being unbelievably good
TBH, he seemed to lose his nerve a bit last season, there was a game he cost us away to Newcastle, which we would have won but for him, he scored an unbelievable own goal, but we should remember that he's now in his prime (29 almost 30), and has shown strength of character before to overcome a sticky period under Keegan. It would be a crying shame if he was shipped off to another club at this stage of his career, especially now that we finally seem to be going places and in the hunt for honours

Richard Dunne has been magnificent for City and will continue to be.

Extremely under rated and unappreciated this year. There were some extremely dodgy decisions against us. We were severely stretched at the back on many occasions and Dunne was there battling defiantly.
