Given where we were at the time and how he performed week in week out for us, quite agree with you Mr Partridge.

He was here.

He was there.

He was every fucking where.
Yeah everywhere, including putting the ball in his own net, having said that he was ok, wouldnt get near our team today though

Neither would The Goat, shall we slag him off next.
The Goat trapped the ball further than I can kick it.

www.Still a legend though.com

Richard Dunne is an example to any player who has gone off the rails and is wondering how he gets back. He got his act together and played his heart out for this club and became our player of the year for 4 years and I don't care how often people say, 'but who else was there' because there were other players through those years who could have won POTY. He is, and to me will always be, a City Legend and should be inducted into our Hall of Fame. Cook let Dunnie down very badly.

I wrote to Dunnie (I know, sad, but I'm not proud) when he left us, thanking him for his stint here and had a lovely letter back from him with a signed photo. So I've got a signed photo of him in City colours and in AV colours!!!

Great player for us. You don't win the fans player of the year 4 years in a row for nothing.
Unfortunately he was another one who was treated disgracefully by the club when he left.
I will always have 100% for Richard Dunne. A genuine City legend.

Absolutely correct, TGR.

Richard Dunne was a great servant for Manchester City.

As has already been said, you don't win PotY four seasons in a row if you're a donkey.

IMHO, his two greatest performances for us were in the derbies during Sven's season.

He was absolutely immense in both games, as was Micah Richards.

Brilliant servant for the team and rightly won POTY 4 seasons on the trot. A big reason for all his red cards and own goals was beacuse he was trying to cover for the a lot of the dross that surrounded him. He turned his life around and should be considered role model.

Favourite memory of mine was in Sven's season I think it was, we hadn't lost at home yet in the league and around Christmas time Liverpool came into town. They just dominated us, something like 20 shots on goal. Dunne was everywhere blocking shots and making last ditch tackles. One way traffic pretty much the whole match. He really was "every-fucking-where". Best performance from a centre back I've seen in a blue shirt.

Wish him well, I always thought he gave his all for the team. In all fairness he showed more desire than sum during that period.

Nowt against him. But it kinda makes me chuckle the way he is hero worshipped as some kind of model pro. And used as some sort of barometer that the current players should aspire to when he used to turn up to training pissed more often than he did sober.

In the early years yes, but he then grew up and matured, sorted himself out and went on to become our Player Of The Year four years running and club captain who was with us for 9 years. I didn't realise none of that counted and we were only choosing to remember his first two years at the club.

He was a tower of strength at the club for a good number of seasons and played with his heart on his sleeve. I, for one, will look upon RD's time at MCFC with admiration and thanks.

I'll never forget the OG he got for Newcastle, it was the best OG I've ever seen.

He also stuck one in for City in a game that ended o o against Newcastle ( unusual I know) and that tit Graham Poll disallowed it for some unknown reason that no one could actually see! Thought he was great for City at the time. Tough as old boots he was.

Neither did I.

You brought it up.

Could be in line for his 1st game in nearly a year tonight, good luck to him, also will be looking for a new club this summer!! A good pro after a dodgy start to his city career!! I wish him all the best, city legend! And top man

there were just too many own goals and red cards
THIS ^^^^^^

Doesn't make him a bad player, and it's not as though he scored them on purpose.

Dunnie was a rock for our club, one of the few dependable players we could count on to give their all through many seasons when all we had to look forward to was not being relegated.

He was rightly named our best player year after year by the fans, and if he scored the odd own goal, I'm bloody sure he stopped an awful lot more being scored by the opposition.

This with fucking bells on.

It does my swingers in when people forget where we have come from. I love the fact Kompany intersects the ball 3 passes before it becomes danger but seeing Dunne make fabulous challenges game after game was tip top. Ta lad.

I think Dunne being considered a City legend really does show how far we have come in the last 4 years

Indeed. But I think some folk forget where we've had to come from to get to where we are today.

And as well as nearly 10 years service to the club, we actually made a profit on him. Bought for £3m, sold for £5m.

Im not going to knock him at all its just amazing when you think about it. In 10 years time our new generation of youngsters wont remember where we came from no matter how much we try to educate them

Then its our job to educate them and make sure they do know. if we don't the club will have lost its roots and its soul.
I posted previously: Dunne was the fans player of the season 4 years in a row.
A feat probably never to be equalled these days. Top player for us and he did us proud.

Absolutely this.

And BB85 I know you weren't knocking him. IIRC, didn't the City fans at the Villa game a couple of seasons ago chant his name? Even though he was playing for Villa?

Was always a mistake waiting to happen and unfortunately usually did, the pen he gave away v Bolton at home costing a 1-0 defeat after we hit the woodwork at least 6 times sums the guy up Didn't appreciate how he held the club to ransom to get more pay and the strike he allegedly tried to organise to keep holiday camp Sven at the club was a disgrace Not a legend in my eyes but definitely a leg-end
