anyone know how long he has left on his contract? just wondering if he returns to form in Italy, he might be worth bringin back in to the mix again next summer with Zabba and Lasagne no spring chickens.
1 year remaining, so he won't be coming back.
Until then we can always offer him a new contract

You would think that is quite unlikely. We offered last summer, he refused.

It doesn't seem like a lot, but unlike most ignorant fans of rival clubs who just think we're "wasting" him, each club will have experts who will be fully aware of his ridiculously poor injury record... and the fact he hasn't actually been any good at all in any of his appearances in the past year.

Still think we'll get a buyer, might have to lower the price or make it an add-on based deal. Oldham's cut is 20%?
Didn't they waive the sell on fee?

That's an urban myth apparently. If Micah decides to sit out his contract it'll be hurting his old club Oldham more than City one could argue. Even £1m would be huge for them.

I would be mightily pissed off if we dont get anything out of this Richards transfer. Even as much as 750k would make a big, big difference.

You'll get nowt and I can have no sympathy with that. Directors of lower league football clubs have to make financially prudent decisions and at that time it may have looked like that, but there is always a risk. He could have retired with dodgy knees or a heart condition or run his contract down in other circumstances after being tapped up another club with more cash than us- at the time of the buy-out offer anyway:

They made a financial decision with some risk involved and unfortunately for the club it back fired on them, but "theeez eezz footboll" business.

Apparently said in a presser that city offered him a 5-6 year deal.

After Badelj, Fiorentina continues to introduce new players arrived from the market. Today is the turn of Micah Richards, an important defensive reinforcement arrived from Manchester City. These statements in the press conference.

"Over the past eight months I have not played the way I wanted, I had received offers from other major clubs in England, then I spoke with Fiorentina and they explained the project, I was hit and I thought I'd be the right player. While ago I had a serious injury, on my return Zabaleta was playing well and has earned the place. working I wanted to go back to being the holder; Manchester City has offered me a renewal of 5-6 years, but I wanted to start from scratch. That type of player they are? Obviously I'm a defender, the most important thing is to know how to defend and my main feature is the one on one. latter Premier that I played but I have collected 7 assists, so I also like to work on the offensive . Which are the objectives of Fiorentina? When I spoke with the staff of Manchester United, I was told that the team wants to invest to build a formation with many talents. believe that this see also the atmosphere, I can give the My contribution to increase the level of the rose. I have not talked about right goals, of course we can fight for the Champions League. Frustration at City? For a player is frustrating to stand out, but Zabaleta had played a very good season. With Mancini was often turnover of full-backs, we won the championship and I also played well. Jovetic What I said? Before I spoke with Savic and then with Jovetic and Nastasic. I have spoken well of Fiorentina and that life is good in this city. They told me that this team has this plan to build something very important, and I noticed when I got talking to teammates. Balotelli? We were good friends when he was playing in England with Manchester City, we all know his character. I think he was a very good choice to go to Liverpool, will play with Sturridge, another great friend of mine. The British fans love him very much, in the field is very strong. Montella What are you asking me? I trained 4-5 times, introduced me to the rest of the team and in these first two weeks I'm settled. Then tell me what to do and what to improve. One of my idol? As I grew one was Vieira, I've also played together a couple of years and it was great. A great leader, great player. Also he told me about this possible choice, which would have been great for me. In my role I have no idols. Resentment for how things have gone and advice for young people in England? Leaving after 12 years it was very difficult, but I have no resentment; it is also thanks to the City if they are where they are. Some things have happened in the last year, I thought I could play more because I showed what I was capable of doing and giving. But I'm happy with this experience. The City has 22 players that play in the National, it's hard to get there. I hope that the English teams in general exploit more their youth sectors. As with all teams at the end is the coach who decides, and if he sees that player deserve in the end puts them in the field. Could I stay in the Premier League and follow the path easier? For me this is a great experience, I would not preferred to remain in the house but I wanted to go abroad. I saw that this team was particularly ambitious, and last year he finished very well in the league. Differences championships? I've always seen outside the Premier League and I've always noticed that you play at a faster rate low, but becomes more attention to the technical teams play tactically. This is something that I want to improve on reading tactics, are improved when I coached Mancini. Then again I have not played, so I could respond better in six months. Which form I prefer to play? Not wait to play with Cuadrado. I like to play both at 3 and right in line 4; then I will adapt to what the coach asks.'s national team? have been summoned when I was playing regularly, so I hope to demonstrate my level of being able to return to the national team. If I can play Sunday against Genoa? Actually I only played 15 minutes with Manchester City in the Charity Shield, maybe I need a little 'time. "

I hope he reaches his full potential out there in Italy.

I think he sees he has no real chance of getting into our team. At right back, we have Zabaleta and Sagna. Kompany and Mangala as centre backs.

He's been poor the last few times he's played for us, but that's because he's hardly played. The lad desperately needs regular first team football.

I suppose there's a slight possibility he'll be a centre backfor Fiorentina, do brilliantly and come back as our third choice CB, but I doubt it.

Anyways, I hope he reaches his full potential out there and shows everybody what a good player he is. In our first title winning season he was the best right back in England IMO.

If we'd have been offered a decent sum then he'd have accepted the offer.

Our Chairman is hardly going to accept 500k when he's just breaking into the first team and looking to be come major England international.

The reason why I'd be pissed off is not because I'm being greedy and wanted millions, it's because Fiorentina will be paying around €6m for a permanent deal but because it's worked out as some kind of dodgy / odd loan fee, rumour has it we don't get any of it.

Micah Richards insists he was not given a fair crack of the whip under Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini.

And the defender, speaking for the first time since ending his 12-year spell at the Etihad Stadium following his loan move to Fiorentina, has also revealed his fears over the futures of the club's academy talent.

The defender was officially unveiled as a Fiorentina player in Florence this afternoon following his deadline day switch to the Serie A club.

Former Manchester City boss revealed his superstitious side when he banned players from wearing purple at the club.

The 49-year-old believed that the colour brought bad luck.

After playing an integral role in City's historic title win in 2012, Richards has been a peripheral figure at the club, particularly after the sacking of Roberto Mancini and arrival of Manuel Pellegrini.

And while Richards admits City will always be close to his heart he admits his lack of playing time under Pellegrini rankles with him.

'Leaving City was always going to be sad after 12 years, it was hard for me to leave because I know nothing else but Manchester City,' said Richards.

Richards came through the youth ranks at City, making his debut for the club as a 17 year old.

But the influx of expensive foreign talent thanks to the huge investment from their Middle Eastern owners, has seen the progression of young academy players into the first team become a rarity.

Dedryck Boyata - a Belgian - is the only 'club-trained' player in City's Champions League squad.

And Richards has expressed his concerns over whether City's current youngsters will ever emulate his achievement of making it into the first team.

'Its going to be hard for them to come through, if you look at their squad now there's 22 international players.

'You're going to have to be extra special to get through there. 'Hopefully the new facilities there will help to bring young players through. 'It would be nice to see more coming through, but the standard's pretty high now.

Get over your bitterness, it's a straightforward loan.

A straightforward loan would be simply loaning your player out with no fee involved. Maybe the receiving club offers to pay some wages. That's fair enough.

Then there's the other loans where you pay a fee to loan that player, such as United have done with Falcao, and Fiorentina have done with Richards. The only small issue I have is that because Richards' contract runs out at the end of the season, Fiorentina have effectively paid this fee to have the transfer made before the summer. That, to me, is some form of transfer fee, yet we dont get any of it.

It's not a case of being bitter as such - had he moved on loand with no fee whatsoever, which tbh is what a lot of us predicted would happen anyway, and then I came on here spouting shit such as "it's a joke" and "it shouldn't be allowed", then you'd have every right to call me bitter, as that would come across that way.

I just feel that a loan fee, which is simply an early transfer fee IMO, kind of makes me feel a little miffed that we lose out on, effectively, a technicality.

I'm not going to start criticising your club or out - it's up to City what they do with their player / money etc. That doesn't mean I can't be a little miffed with how we're left without a bean when he's effectively been transferred for a fee.

I just wish he'd gone 3 years ago in his prime!!

.....apart from the fact that both Lineker and Keegan were world class players in their prime, not injury-riddled, muscle bound has-beens who never cultivated their game, because they thought bigger and stronger meant better!

His lack of technical ability will be highlighted in Italy and I can only hope that his willingness to get forward allows him to have a successful time over there. Given his penchant for allowing brute strength to speak for him, I would imagine he will be a yellow (if not red) card magnet in the ever-so-gentile Italian league.

Pellegrini is a cultured man who has been around a bit. I imagine he sees what many of us see in Micah.....a decent lad, but certainly not a high quality technician of the footballing art.

Or is it ours and then they can have 0% of his free transfer next year when his contract expires, and he leaves for free. Is that the case, anyone know?
Unless City are feeling very magnanimous towards Oldham I can't see them getting any of the loan fee. However if we've setup the same sort of deal we did with Barry to Everton I'm guessing they'll get their 20% (I think) of whatever the final fee is.
If it is just a straight loan with the normal loan fee involved and he's a free agent next summer then perhaps City may give them a friendly to soften the blow. A club like City should be doing all they can to support other local teams (rags aside obviously).
