Rico Lewis | Set to sign a new 5-year contract (pg33)

Nothing against him i just don't think he's good enough to be s starter in any of the top 4 teams, as a squad player maybe he's worth keeping around, he's no right back and he's behind so many in midfield so if he starts 10 league games i'd be suprised.

Believe it or not, he's started quite a lot for a title winning side.

Happy enough that Rico is staying. The club still needs a Walker replacement. Maybe not possible and we will go with Rico and nunes. The laters role is under pressure now.

Someone has to leave…
If I had to choose, it would be the latter, then we concentrate on getting a young specialist RB, preferably association trained.

If we can shift enough of the old guard this or next summer, we can definitely go for a young non-HG right back within our squad quota. Brilliant news this!

He's a big asset as long as we are dictating and controlling games and struggles when under heavy pressure. Pep has most likely learnt from this and will play him accordingly.

A shining example of the value a good agent to a player.

He'd have been a big “sell” for me, yet here is for another 5 years.

Oh well, got to be someone else we can move on.

Mate, if Lewis struggles it means the whole defence is struggling, including Rico.

I don't recall many situations where we were cruising defensively & Lewis was the obvious weak link. The main issue affecting him is his size & age, as we've seen teams targeting him for brutal treatment trying to unsettled him.

Two years ago, Pep criticised our senior players for not standing up & protecting him more. He was getting clattered & thrown about in that particular match, & not one senior player stood up for him, or tried to protect him.

Imagine some bent nose, cauliflower eared brute trying it on with Rico if Fernandinho or Kompany were still here? No fucking chance! They'd have kicked the bastard into the middle of next week, then time travelled forward to boot him some more!

Very happy he’s staying, excellent squad player.

My question is this, if Rico is staying and Savinho is staying but Pep wants to work with a smaller squad, who’s going ?

Bloody good business by the club this. He obviously wants to be here and he's more than capable enough to hold down a squad position, even if he isn't ripping up trees just yet. To buy a ready-made replacement with a similar ceiling in today's market is upwards of 50-60M and it would take a season at least for any new player to fully bed-in.

The question I've been posing for weeks.

I think the time is nigh that the coaching team sit down & decide who they want, who they don't, who wants to leave & who we want to buy to replace those like Ederson & Savinho to give us the best, dynamic squad going forward.

At that point, it must be made abundantly clear to those who're refusing to leave that they're not in our plans & can't/won't be registered in the PL or CL.

We have a contractual obligation to train & play our players, but those should be issues left with Hugo & Ferran, leaving Pep & his coaching staff to work on the players they want to for our 2025-26 squad.

It's shit or get off the potty time for us. We've got less than 2 weeks to avoid several potentially awkward situations.

Excellent news.

I get Gary Owen vibes about Rico in that he never seems to stop running and pops up all over the shop.

I think he’s going to settle into one role or another, perhaps one invented by Pep!, and he will go from strength to strength.

I think he’s hungry, full of talent and is more than happy to be a cog in the machine.

Good luck sunshine you are one of our own after all.

Madness that people wanted Rico sold. Twenty years old and covers three positions as a squad player, what more could you want?

Teams like Madrid have relied on quality roation players than can fill gaps e.g. Lucas Vasquez. Rico could be that player for us, rack up 300 appearances without ever nailing down a position but fulfilling an important role regardless.
