Right back options

The current story is that we are not going to buy a right back. Candidates: Khusanov, Akanji, Nunes, Lewis.
Khusanov for me. Pep will pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Khusanov for me.
He defended Vini well in my opinion before we capitulated. But it’s what he offers going forward or in the build up.

Defensively he’s a brilliant fit. But we attack or certainly hold possession the vast majority of the time.

Sell Lewis Nunes and Akanji and buy Liveramento

We don´t have the money for a RB, because we didn´t win the league ;).

Not exactly a long list of quality right back options. As much as I think we need one, theres no point wasting money and squad space on a token gesture signing. Rather stick with Nunes or convert Kushanov.

We need a RB with pace.

One of the reasons Dias was as dominant as he was on the right side of the defense is that Walker could make up for the lack of pace Dias had and could clean up the errors.

We saw Nunes at RB last year, and while it was acceptable given the situation we were in, I don't think we can get away with it and expect to compete for the title this year.

Nunes is extremely quick.

During the CWC there was a moment him and Ait-Nouri motored back from each flank to prevent an almost certain goal.

The issue is he just doesn't naturally understand the role. He has to learn it and unfortunately we're not really a "learn-on-the-job" type club.

I’d be amazed if we didn’t sign a RB.

No way Pep will be happy playing Nunes against top teams at RB.

The question is who. As we have Lewis to rotate it will have to be a starter level player that can fit right in and Khusanov can be injury cover as Akanji has been in recent years.

We need a proper RB.
Khusanov can play against sides with very good left wingers. If we are going to be on the front foot, then Nunes can play.

Nunes gets a really hard deal from City fans. In his first season he was written off. Last season he came back very strongly. Why can't he play at right back? I would have launched that question into outer space had it been mentioned a year ago, but now I like Nunes. He's about the only City player who showed bottle last season and improved.

It depends if Pep thinks he can learn, and what he thinks of Khusanov's prospects.

The tea leaves do not suggest that City are in the market for a right back.

We clearly need two full backs as part of our rebuild, and have money in the bank.
Why are we half doing the job

(if this report is true)
Because some players are closing squad places. Sadly we won’t push them out which is respectful but we are losing time.

Indications suggested we were interested in signing a right back.
If we have gone cool on that, it can only be because we don’t feel anyone available is a significant upgrade on our options. Maybe we’ve parked it for the time being.
