Right back options

I totally disagree with this. I for one wanted Tino at Southampton before the injury, and he’s pushed on and is only going to get better. Rico hasn’t looked anything close to being competent in that position which is exactly why the club and most of us supporters are open to a big money move for him. If Rico was the answer this thread and the clubs obvious interest would not exist. I know you love him, but Rico is not a viable option in that position if we want to compete at the top end again, to my mind he’s never shown anything close to what Tino has shown as a RB.
Fair enough

Issue with him is AFCON

We would lose 3 player - OEH, RAN and Marmoush for month, for a manager like Pep who loves small squads it is a nightmare

Games also are not the weak ones, and are quite crucial

As it stands, he’s never been called up for the first team for Morocco though.

That could change if he signed for City, of course, but as it stands he’s by no means guaranteed to be away at AFCON.

Still - it’s nothing more than a highly speculative and uninformed punt at this stage, and one I can’t see City going for either way.

I think we’ll wait till next season, or January.

Livaremento is a panic buy at more than £70m and we’d only be signing him due to the number of foreign players we have.

We need to balance the books first, lose 4/5 foreign players permanently. That’ll allow us to buy a foreign right back of his quality, at a fraction of the price.

Save the stupid money for English player who is actually worth it.

I think he is worth it. We are assembling a new exciting attack with a weak spot at right back, waiting until next year would only make sense if that wasn’t the case.

So, with less than a month left, are we REALLY going to go until next January without having addressed one of the gaping holes in our squad ?

We seem to have addressed most other areas, but - as much progress as Nunes seems to have made - we surely can't go into the season with a non-specialist RB (with the best will in the world, none of Nunes, Stones, Akanji, Khusanov, Lewis can be qualified as such).

It strikes me that we need them to have pace also, as this seems to be a recurring theme with our defence leaking goals.

For me, we can't expect to be in the mix for the PL or CL without one.

If John Stones stays fit, I think out of our squad he’d be the one I’d be most comfortable with at right back. If we have to go this season with what we have.

Calm down petal... It seems the truth & facts hurt huh?
Some here can’t cope with it if you ain’t biased and turn your brain off or lower it to room temp iq lvls. It’s sad. The „ he can play there „ stuff obviously doesn’t work anymore when you see how often Kovacic got criticized for not being a good Rodri replacement when he never was supposed to be one.

Never played for Morocco but good enough for us?
Maybe have a look at who plays RB for Morocco and take a moment to consider consider why perhaps he hasn't played for them.

For what it's worth, he has been called up but hasn't played. Morocco is ranked 12 in the world. Their starting RB is generally considered the best in the world. It's probably difficult for the lad to actually break into the team. That he's been named to the team is a start. We have one or two others at City who haven't started for their respective national teams yet either.

I'm not saying El Hilali is the answer but he very well could be. That he hasn't featured ahead of the best RB in the world doesn't mean a damn thing.
