Rio Olympics

Mainly in the cycling, but other stuff too. Saying that we have been shite for 4 years so it makes no sense why we are so good now

It makes perfect sense. We target the Olympics every 4 years rather than other competitions. If they did the same thing, they may get similar results.

I went to the World Cycling Championships earlier this year in London and the GB women's Pursuit team were so bad that they didn't even get through the first round.

The same women's Pursuit team won gold and set a new world record in the Olympic final.

The cycling team have always been at the forefront of technology and pushing the boundaries. For me, it seems we work towards the olympics and this is what we peak for. I imagine the ozzies are ones making those noises as they expected to do a lot better in the cycling.

We should turn this around, and legitimately ask why these other teams are not bringing their 'A Games' to the Olympics?...is the testing and high publicity too much compared to the world championships?...or don't they have the arse for it...

That was almost a total disaster for Farah in the 5000m semi-final. Second race in a row that he's nearly been barged out of it.

Aren't all the venues bobbins? They all look like they were built in the 80s or something. Very architecturally poor

These games must be costing them a fortune. The venues look a quarter full.

If you think the Olympics is poorly attended, wait until the Paralympics start.

The London Paralympics was sold out but as of now only 10% of tickets have been sold for the Rio Paralympics.

Tickets prices start at £2 so cost is no excuse.

Hope Honduras wipe the floor with them.
1-0 Brazil after 16 seconds.........Neymar carried off with a possible cracked rib which happened at the same time.

Edit - he's back on!! Drama queen?

Commentator just said 'it's so often that we talk about Brazil as an attacking force'............maybe to my generation and his, but the younger generation, who have watched Brazil over the last 3 or 4 maybe 5 world cups won't have seen any beautiful attacking football from them. They've been shite for a long, long time.

I see there's conflicting reports of these American swimmers who were robbed at gun point. From what I've seen on the bbc, the swimmers reckon they were robbed at 4am but officials have footage of them returning to the Olympic village at 7am, putting their bags through a scanner and appearing 'normal'. The swimmers had been out at the French Olympic accommodation for a party.

Are any of the American swimmers married? Maybe some playing away, then trying to get a cover story sorted for the wife....??

No chance when you can buy a bag full of drugs on the street for that price.... Third World country unfortunately Brazil.. They should be offering kids/ families tickets for nothing to try and stimulate something for the future

Germany lose a penalty shoot-out! Holland through to the women's hockey final.

GB v NZ in the other semi-final tonight.

Not only married but the wife was in the olympic village. Anyway a judge has barred them from leaving the country.
