Rio Olympics

Just watched GBR achieve a silver in the mens 200m kayak.

It appears gear use is still very much alive and well.

What a complete and utter pile of unadulterated horse shit. If you think that's a brilliant article than you're a bit of a cockwomble.

Is that the best you've got? Can't you even articulate one reason why you don't agree with the article?
I'll ignore the insult, and not resort to replying with one about you, tempting as it is.

That Jade Jones is brilliant at that kicking stuff (Taekwondo).

Brownlee brothers next, good chance of gold and silver.

I may not have said it in the same way, but i totally agree with cheesy that the article is a pile of horse manure. I don't want to go into a long debate about politics, funding, nationlisation, etc. All i want to say is that i have loved these olympics, i am proud of how well the british have done and regardless of the funding the work and dedication these athletes put in is to be commended, apart from channel hopping i think the BBC coverage has been fantastic and its good to remember that life is for enjoyment which for the majority of people i know the olympics brings a good dose of that too.

These athletes in the triathlon......just wow. How fit must they be to do all that cycling, swimming and running!! I couldn't even get out the pool on holiday properly, I looked like a walrus trying to get out the sea onto a rock. I take my hat off to these guys, absolutely amazing.

Balls of steel. Amazing physical and mental strength.

Brilliant from the Brownlee's, physically and mentally strong, gold and silver, brilliant.
Yep,i enjoyed that enormously.

Taking nothing away from them, but what an advantage it must be to have your brother pushing you to your very limits in every training session and competition - Machines, the both of them.

I was less referring to him talking about the news being delayed, than his point about the nationalisation of sport. I recall years ago Daley Thompson getting slated in the media for daring to whistle during the national anthem - as if he was winning the gold for 'Queen and country' - he was winning it for himself, as all athletes do. They arent symbols of a country; the Olympics shouldnt be about one country trying to prove it is better than another country, it should be about one individual being better than the rest in competition. I love the Olympic sport as much as anyone, but it doesnt mean the coverage can't be criticised, and the BBC obsession with the medals table is OTT.
Anyway, the author of that article and his like wont need to worry soon, cos ESPN has snaffled the coverage rights in future, so the BBC coverage will be secondary and much reduced. And, bless 'em, those annoyed about having to pick up their remotes to switch between BBC channels to follow the coverage probably wont need to bother.

You don't sound like someone who loves the Olympics, you sound like someone who objects to anyone else enjoying it. You don't seem to have much of a clue about sport in general either, since it generally involves one team competing against another. Why should one country competing against another be any different?

I've just done a f**king triathlon dashing home to watch the end of that only to switch the telly on to see both of them collapsed on the finishing line. I'm putting in a claim for a bronze medal.
