I'm amazed that people haven't seen this coming.
The pieces have been in place for months....and I have absolutely no doubt what started down there will spread up here.
There are a lot of scrotes involved in this, but there will also be a number of kids who actually believe in their heads that what they are doing is justified.
They see the Con Dem cuts aimed at the poorest, those that can least afford to lose, biting into already deprived communities..while literally round the corner the paper millionaires, tax dodgers and offshore account managers are still eating caviar, sending the little angel to Oxbridge to finish the doctorate in "great artists of Renaissance"and filling up the Porsche. On account,of course.
They see the police,I'll equipped and running scared, morale smashed by compulsory redundancies, stations being closed.A perfect storm for the opportunist.
At least Thatcher was smart enough to know that she needed the police on her side to complete the task of ideologically smashing the unions and heaping misery on Northern working class people at the expense of the Southern money shifters...so she simply employed more of them.
This bunch of frauds, charlatans and chinless wonders currently pretending to be in power don't even have the nous to work that one out,let alone predict what the results of their disastrous, ruinous policies could be.

I am as disgusted by some of the zealous cuts and policies that are being implemented and I'd be the first to be for some sort of statement (though not necessarily rioting). But you are attributing far too much intelligence and intellectual motivation to all of this. It is scrotes on the rob, nothing more, nothing less. They couldn't give a shit about government policy and are no doubt part of the "politics boring, all politicians the same, who's the Primeminister" demographic, not politically charged youth.

I think you're missing the point. You're right that they couldn't give a shit about goverment policy, but that's because like many people they have lost all faith in politicians. These are people who see for themselves that the rich people who caused the financial crisis are relatively unaffected by it, whereas the social state, the state that affects their day to day lives, is paying a high price. SureStart centres closing, benefit reviews getting harsher, disability payments vanishing, financial support for colllege students being axed, no jobs available for young people etc. Meanwhile, just around the corner from where they live, Mr Banker drives his new Bentlley and Mr MP has a posh flat and goes everywhere by taxi. Politically charged? What they are is reality charged.

I'd be the first to agree with the problems caused by a lot of the things mentioned. I also might be found at a protest that turned violent about such matters.

However, if you are viewing any of this and think it is remotely the same thing, then I suggest you look again.

You are attributing far more meaningful motivation to it. Don't try to intellectualise something that is as far removed from having an intellectual basis as possible. Even saying it is motivated by "the banker has a big car" is giving it far too much credibility. It has fuck all to do with that. It is scrotes trying it on. In fact, it is an insult to the working class to try to link this with any social justice agenda.

It is very counter intuitive (and illiberal) for me to say this, but listening to matters unfolding on Radio5live I think Theresa May needs to act swiftly and send the troops in now to nip this in the bud.

It appears to be gathering a bit too much momentum. I reckon this could be over in 24 hours if she acted decisively.

I agree. They need to declare a curfew and looters should be shot on sight. That would stop it in an instant.
