Over a year ago, Clegg predicted this would happen; Lord Snooty said it wouldn't.

I'd like to know how we people a few hundred miles away know what's going on in the heads of young people at the other end of the country ?

Truth is all we can do is guess from what we know, tensions have been raised after a man was shot by police, we do not know the circumstances surrounding that but that is the a key moment in the tragic event, also today a man was supposedly stopped and searched by police a search which found nothing which again is the spark that seems to have set this off, the outright vulcherism of looting that we see is dispicable but thats what happens when such oppotunities arise regardless of the actual reasons for this outburst of pure anger and hate from young people from all over London. Do I condone setting things on fire no,looting no but it seems the police is a catalyst for trouble and if the police were to be given the license to use heavy handed tactics I think it would just elevate the violence to nigh on civil war levels

As for restoring order well I wouldn't be opposed to have the Army lining the streets because I believe it's the only institution that can command the respect of young people and that's what seems to be galling people (those of the right especially). The saying is that respect is earnt well at what age does that stop ? 45 ? or do you have to be retired ?

Either way there is a lesson to learn here and if this country is to avoid this flaring up again it will learn it. It's a sad day for all of us in this country regardless of our political leanings. We should not squabble with each other but collectivley condemn and question.
