Re: Riot in Tottenham (continued)

Despite some posters best attempts this has got fuck all to do with race or politics.

Re: Riot in Tottenham (continued)

There are no water canons in England apparently. They would have to be brought over from Ireland!

he's right though mate, they are just common thieves.

Most probably are but that doesn't mean that there's not a broader context to the incidents these past few nights.

not most probably, they are.
you dont empty a jewelley shop to make a social statement, if they do a veg shop i may relent but sorry it will never happen.
scum end of.

Rather alarmingly they seem to be doing a lot of carpet shops. Is there a pattern emerging?

Society breeds these people. We are responsible as part of the 'big society'.

I'm as bad as anyone, I'm on here talking whilst the country burns around me.

You can't expect people to live in a shit society and not get pissed off.

This isn't the first incident of social disorder since the coalition stole the leadership and it won't be the last.

I don't expect us to agree on this as we're both very different, politically speaking but I do believe every word I say and whereas, in the past, I've been provocative and gobby, I'm now just giving my opinion :)

Someone has been shot in Chapeltown, Leeds. Not sure if related though.
That was hours ago I think.

Can't we just make some water cannons with the fire engines?

1 out of 2...

2254: Claire Marshall BBC News, Birmingham...We've seen the most extraordinary scenes. Walking through the streets, I saw 100 or so men with ski masks and hoods pulled down. They seemed to be very well-organised, communicating with each other on radio. The police were in force but they did not seem to know what to do. It's a really tense atmosphere here.
