RIP Pele (p9)

I am honestly blown away that he was just 82. If you would have asked me before today I would have said mid 90s.
 
Sad news. The original greatest. Only a couple of genius left-footed Argentinians can share that pantheon with him.

So many incredible moments but the ones that I remember from that incredible Brazil team in 1970 were the outrageous pieces of skill that up to then, had not been attempted; the lob from the halfway line and that dummy around the keeper. Both narrowly missed the target but the audacity to try them on the biggest stage (like with Zidane's Panenka penalty in the '06 WC Final) was a testament to his brilliance and creativity.

RIP Pele. A magnificent footballer and a gentleman to boot.

As long as I've been into football, which is for as long as I can remember as I near 50, his name was always mentioned in some capacity whenever football was talked about.
A true legend, a gentleman and a bloody good footballer.

Really upset me that he has died, god bless him

This always lives with me from that final - sheer flamenco party football that was just glorious and the great man simply played a bit part - yes Italy were knackered but the joy that it brings.......
