RIP Tony Book

That's really sad news, an iconic figure in the club's resurgence in the 60s and 70s as both player, captain and manager and an almost constant presence at the club for over 50 years. I had the pleasure of briefly speaking to Tony on the Naples seafront before a CL match, he always had time for the fans.
Condolences to his family and friends.
RIP Tony

Sad news indeed ... when I first started watching City in 1969, this guy said as much about City, as Lee, Bell and Summerbee did, a real City legend, he always gave his best on the pitch and to every role he undertook thereafter.

He was always a real nice guy too, always had time for people.

The last photo, the packed terraces, the traditional boots and that kit, beautiful, just beautiful.

This one hits quite hard to be honest, his playing days were well before my time but I met him a couple of times and he was such a lovely, friendly, guy who had time for everyone. I'm actually a lot more upset than I thought I would be, my nest wishes go out to all his family, friends and supporters.

RIP Tony Book. He was the first City manager I remember as a kid and when he spoke I always felt he came across really well. It sounds like he was an absolute gentleman. Condolences to the family.
My first City manager took, sad news for his family and the club. All those years of service he gave us. RIP and cheer the team along from up above.

Again the lyrics really hit home, they always do at times like this.... Bell, Lee, Doyle et al.

"maybe in another generation....."

really makes me reflect about what a great club we've always been and Tony was an intrinsic part of the fabric as @mackenzie says above.

.... and still Sky don't consider it to be newsworthy..... everyday I am becoming more aware as to why I despise the moneygrabbing arselicking twats.

Just woken up, it's almost 4:30am here in Oz and just seen the news of Skip's passing, was a part of my childhood as I got to see him play in that wonderful 68 side and then as manager for City at Maine Road...........RIP Skip Tony Book
