RIP Tony Book

Sad news.Tony was a true legend.I well remember him scoring against Everton in 1968. It was a very difficult home match which City needed to win to stay in the title race. At 0-0 Tony went on the rampage upfront and scored the opening goal. City won 2-0 and that was crucial to set us up for Title chase culminating in the last match at Newcastle.

Mike Minay the GMR BBC correspondent for us should be pushing this with his employee.
Disgraceful why no mention on the BBC sport website.
Christ United's ex receptionist who recently passed had more recognition.
The story is buried half way down the City page on their site. Considering the coverage of the Rag's tea lady it's pretty disgraceful and disrespectful.

I only checked the main football news page on the site, he deserves more than being a side story elsewhere on the site.

He should be in the main section with the main stories and high up it too but the fact it isn't, sadly it doesn't shock me in the slightest after all he wasn't at a cartel club.
Nothing against the rags receptionist that had a full commentary on her funeral. If the BBC are as balanced as they proclaim they would be making more of a story of Skip's passing.

It’s buried in their time line updates somewhere near their coverage of Peo throwing Walker under a Bus and Pep destroying Jack all quotes from Theo Walcott ffs

RIP skip. And thanks for the 1976 cup win and turning us into a great team in the mid seventies. I also loved seeing you bring out the premier league trophy a few years back, a fabulous nod to our previous greats.

Just heard the devasting news that City icon Tony Book has sadly passed away aged 90, a man who has been there, seen it and done it all at City while having a huge impact on so many young players careers with his mentorship and advice, not just in football but in life also.

Manchester City, and the football world has lost a true legend in this man today who always had time for a chat and a story.

RIP Skip you will be truly missed and now back playing good cop and bad cop with Glyn Pardoe. Condolences to his family and friends.

Surely it merits more of a story than the Lazio Falconer's prosthetic ?

at the moment of typing there is no mention on the BBC Football home page.

You can bet the day the GPC dies it will be on there in moments of the announcement with suggestions of a state funeral

An absolute true legend and kind personality has left us. RIP Tony Book.

I had the pleasure to meet him a few times late 70-ies. That was a lot easier in those days. He was however hard to understand mind you as he was mumbling with an accent that made it difficult for a foreigner like me. But he was always very patient with me.

Sad day. And I like to think the players should do everything to honour him by getting 3 points.

Skipper at my early games at Maine Road, club legend, 90 is a good innings, RIP Skip

RIP , it is a tribute to his character that Tony was captain when City won league in 68, even though it had players like Bell, Lee and Summerbee. Deserves to go down as legend, condelences to family and friends
