RIP

I went to Anfield the week after to leave a City scarf on the gates.

I was with two mates from Uni. One was a Koppite who just sat in his usual spot on the terrace for ages in complete silence.

The other was an Evertonian. We went to his house in Kirkby after and bumped in to one of his neighbours who was there. He just looked completely pale and didn't want to talk about it.

The trouble is that there will never be justice for the 96 as the authorities seem incapable and unwilling of being accountable. No surprise to those us who have to deal with them on a regular basis. Individuals in public office have a way of disappearing before they ever have to accept responsibility whereas they never leave us alone. That's why it won't go away. Why should it?

As a Liverpool fan, thanks for this thread lads. Means alot to know other fans are still recognising this.

Of course we would but blaming everyone but themselves for Heysel leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Heysel has nothing to do with Hillsborough... Only thing in common is people lost their lives and Liverpool were involved.. Don't try and combine the two...

Both were awful , awful tragedies but the fact remains that Liverpool fans and their club refuse to take any blame for Heysel and yet love to dish out the blame for Hillsborough.
Juventus fans that were killed are every bit as important as the Liverpool fans that died.
I realise that they were two different tragedies but the hypocrisy from Liverpool is mindblowing.
R.I.P to all fans killed at football matches

Hi all. I haven’t posted on here for a long time but I did a preview feature for one of our games last season so registered. Thanks for the kind comments on here and for the most of you understanding that it was a case of ‘there but for the grace of God’.

I’ve attached a link to a thread that provides some facts about the disaster and shows why the campaign for justice goes on: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=217050.0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/ind ... c=217050.0</a>

I’ve also attached a link from our official site about Heysel – it is acknowledged each year as well although obviously there is less coverage of that in the English media than that afforded to coverage of Hillsborough: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/history/heysel" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/history/heysel</a>

Finally – I’m not here to preach but here are the reasons why Liverpool fans don’t buy the Sun. It may have an effect on you, it may not but if a few of you decide not to buy it as a result of seeing this then that's a start. How Kelvin Mackenzie can sleep at night I really don’t know:
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.spiritofshankly.com/documents/Dont_Buy_The_Sun_A4.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.spiritofshankly.com/document ... Sun_A4.pdf</a>

Congratulations on your excellent season so far, to be fair you have exceeded expectations from a lot of Liverpool fans in a short space of time. I’ll leave further banter on that for another day though if you don’t mind.

Thanks again. Justice for the 96.

Nick

RIP THE 96.
Anyone that stood on that end or ever stood on the old scoreboard end at the swamp will realise that that could have been us that day,how the fuck this never happened before then is just pure & simple luck.
Anyone remember being kept in at leeds in the 70's for a cup game when they invaded the pitch ???we were locked in pens & house bricks & all sorts of stuff were thrown over the top the crush that day was unbelievable & the fact most got out safe is down once again to luck.
How about the wall at burnley in the early 70's that some bright spark thought would be a good idea for segregating fans but failed to realise that 5,000 people trying to get through 2 openings may not be a good idea.
We had a fan killed in that very same stand i think in the 30's & it was known to be a nightmare waiting to happen.
If you look at the roll call of fans that died it's full of kids, they had only started on lifes journey, they deserve respect & as a parent of 2 i can understand how the parents & Liverpool fans feel being lied to for over 20 yrs.

as an evertonian, in fairness to liverpool fans, some just get on with their lives as best they can. at the end of the day 96 innocent people died on that day or shortly after. police and government cover ups continued to distract the blame away.and fair play to all of you for just saying R.I.P.

sometimes things matter more than football. RIP.
despite the inter city rivalry most blues would wish nothing but sympathies to all the families of the lost.
dont know if them horrible bastards from stretford would feel the same though.

Innocent people dying on a lovely April day, looking forward to a football match, only yards away from safety, the green grass of the pitch and their heroes.

Horrific. Let's hope it never happens again.

RIP.
