Rishi Sunak

man of the people

One in 20 pay IHT. HMRC data for 2019-20 shows that just 3.76% of all UK deaths resulted in an IHT charge with most of the people who had to pay dying with assets valued at more than £1m.

The gvmt trousers c£7b per year from this tax on the wealthiest.

How would they make up the shortfall?

Much fairer to increase the IHT threshold every year but they’ve already recently frozen the IHT limit for years to come.

They are making it up as they go along and laying as many turds on the doorsteps of ordinary people as they can before they get fucked off.

Looking forward to how they will sell this as a positive in red wall seats - lets all go over to GeeBeeBees to see what 30p Lee thinks - we know Mogg will back it

Funny how all those wanting to have a dig about UK support for Ukraine don’t do it in the Ukraine thread, hoping they can get their cheap shots in here where no one will notice them.
Just think how much could have gone into the NHS if we'd not funded a war. Now that's not saying we should not have supported Ukraine, but we wouldn't have spent it on health and social care because of course we don't have a magic money tree.

Best ignored.

This forum is an echo chamber, driven by a handful of posters who make decent points sometimes where criticism is warranted but then get a bit silly, as can be seen by the last page or so re Ukraine.

So a Tory comes on to deflect from the mess the Tories have inflicted on Britain by saying they've helped Ukraine and you wonder that there's an echo chamber saying "Stop using a foreign war as an excuse for being shit at everything else".

It's going to be interesting seeing the messages on Johnsons phone now the cabinet office have said they know the password.

An enquiry into the government handling of the pandemic has brought about 6 months of legal wranglings about messages on the Prime Ministers phone being made available to them, and the phone in question was taken off him in 2021.

What secrets will that phone disclose?

Will Johnsons motives for evading his security team and flying off to Italy to be a guest of a KGB agent hosting a party in Italy be revealed?

Will it reveal the real reason he suppressed the report into Russian interference about the referendum?

Will it reveal why Priti Patel travelled to Israel as Foreign Secretary without telling anyone?

Will it reveal the truth why covid infected people were returned to nursing homes?

Will it reveal the truth about why billions was spent on track and trace during the pandemic which didn't work?

Who knows, but the tories have spent 6 months, and a lot tax payers money, trying to suppress the messages on Johnsons phone being made available to the enquiry, with the support of Sunak.

It seems to me they are trying to hide some unpallatable truths.

I wonder if Berlusconi and George Clooney, maybe with a load of women, are in some pictures with Johnson from that party in Italy?

All that on one phone and no record anywhere else?

And many of those aren't covid relevant. What could the inquiry do if there was some revelation about national security?*

"Unnamed former prime minister was a Russian agent (and it's not Harold Wilson)"

* Serious question

A photo was posted.

I commented on the photo and narrative on here regarding it Vic.

Nothing more.

This was the post - not perhaps from a Tory - that started it.
Not sure about that. This government have done very little well… almost nothing well… but they eve been excellent around the invasion of Ukraine.

Maybe we are a diminished entity when Canada wants to buy whisky from us but we aren’t when it comes to this. The Ukrainian army has been coming here to train to fight Russia and we are up there with providing them with the most arms in Europe.

If this govt had run it’s own country with the quality they’ve helped out Ukraine, they’d have been a great govt. Zelensky has been very impressed with the aid they’ve received from us.

I'm cynical enough to think Johnson saw support for Ukraine as a proxy Falklands, rather than a moral duty, but the echo chamber here isn't about to let suppprt for a foreign war distract from the domestic business in hand.
