main reason for that is a lack of vets - many left the country post Brexit and pre-pandemic and just don't want to return

My surgery has just had one locum running the practise , think they have two vets at the moment , it is a long wait for an appt unless it is an emergency , just like the drs system , then they fleece you rotton . Just took merlin as he had cuts in his mouth from hunting i think and he couldnt eat . Five min appt , six days of metacam, £100, scandal

They could also learn how to put petrol in a car and how to pay for it at the kiosk……..oh, and how to back up your WhatsApp messages in case an inquiry wants to see them.

I’ve never had an issue getting an appointment the same day, but I could have been lucky. I don’t take her unless she really needs looking at.

Last time I was there with her, about 6 months back with a tail issue, there was a bloke who collapsed because he couldn’t afford to pay his bill. The rest of us in the surgery clubbed together and paid a bit each for him.

Hopefully we can train more vets, but I doubt the price of treatment will ever come down.

Don't forget the culling of thousands of pigs because there were no abattoir vets (mostly from the EU)
