Rishi Sunak

Same as everyone else who hopes to catch a glimpse of them by walking past/around Buckingham Palace.

So you come from Peru and camp out on the Mall just in case? I could go to Lima and hang around waiting for an Inca to go by.

Out of interest was it the government who caused inflation to rise?

Out of interest, was it the government that caused the 2008 financial crisis?

I take it you’ve never been to Lima. Let me save you the trouble of packing your tent, you see plenty of Inca out begging on the streets during the day. Regarding my colleagues who came to the UK I was more interested in dissuading one of them from paying £460 odd quid for a ticket to watch the dippers away at Bournemouth.

No, the then Labour government didn’t cause it. Public sector workers caused it hence why we had austerity - do try and keep up!! Seriously though it’s fair to say that some decisions about deregulating the mortgage market and allowing banks to lend created a bit of a beast, equally it’s fair to say oversight could have been better but we see that with hindsight rather than foresight and by the time we saw what was going on it was too late - they (Labour) handled the fallout pretty well IMHO. I also don’t blame Brown for selling gold at what we now see as cheap prices - he was a bit silly about how he went about it - but his rationale, which is the most important thing, for selling it was sound enough.

They are claiming they have control over it to bring it down therefore they must take it that they caused it to go up and stop making excuses ;)

Ah haha you’ve got me there!! They did say it went up due to circumstances outside their control but now taking credit for getting it down. There is an element of truth in what they say but yes they are trying to have their cake and eat it.

Just my opinion but inflation is one of those metrics where judging a government’s performance should be much less based on the cause (which can often be unpredictable), and much more about the actions taken to support those most heavily impacted and prevent it spiralling further.

This bout of inflation was clearly caused by extenuating factors, not the government, as most countries have been grappling with it, but the real question is what have the Conservatives done to mitigate the effects?

For that reason it has no business being in Sunak’s five pledges. It’s a bit like judging the quality of an umbrella, not by how dry you are, but by how much it’s been raining.

If they are responsible for it coming down...then why did they put it up so high before they brought it down?

Gaslighting Scum!
