Rishi Sunak

Soon to be a long forgotten footnote. Fair play to the sub forum contributors nobody got at as melty as these fuckers.

Tbf Banjani did say he was reduced to tears at the announcement of furlough but he is no longer amongst us .... or is he ;-)

I was speaking to someone yesterday who was previously an assistant to a NW Tory MP who is convinced Sunak is losing on purpose just to spite the backbenchers who were out to sabotage him.

She’s a bit prone to conspiracy theories, and I am certainly not convinced she’s right, but it’s not completely inconceivable.

That’s how bad the campaign has been. It’s difficult to imagine it being any worse even if it was planned to be shite.

I just think he's not really faced that much adversity in politics, and turns out he isn't that great in a campaign.

But then, it's less than a week since the first debate, and after that a lot of people thought he was better than expected.

His main problem is that he's gone into the election likely to lose badly. If he was 20 pts ahead in the polls, rather than 20 pts behind, even the D-Day stuff would be pretty much dismissed. As he's not going to win, he doesn't have any power. No-one cares if they upset him. MPs don't need his patronage, and rightwing journos won't need him for access/info.

Maybe the rat-faced **** is just out of touch. He's lived a cosseted lifestyle from private education to Oxford to Goldman Sachs, Hedge Funds and southern California and safe Tory seat. His interaction with normal people is going to have been pretty limited.

Rishi is just a brand with no substance behind it, the personification of Ratners jewellery.

Didn't he go off to start a cult or something?*

*I just made that up.

It’s not just his poor campaigning, but his appalling judgement. As @Mr Kobayashi has alluded to he completely lacks any street-smart. Classic case of someone who is academically bright but lacks any savvy or people skills whatsoever.

That's the point I was making - it's similar to Theresa May. She'd been an MP for 20 years, and Home Secretary for six, yet when it came to the campaign where people are paying attention to your every move, she was slaughtered.

With Rishi, he'd been mocked before for a few things like not being able to use a card reader, but it's forgotten a few weeks later, and he's still PM.

He's had it easy getting to where he is, and when he's faced with having to deal with any issues, he's crumbling.

Still, every MP I've ever met has been odd as fuck. May have been unlucky, but people skills appear not to be on the list of requirements :/

he is "numbers smart" or "book smart" but has been so protected through his formative life and become so wealthy he has no understanding of what anyone on less than £120 pa ( like Hunt ) lives like thats why that is their policy forming point starts at that level. Peak Tory.
They whisper in Kevin's ear - " you see Joe next door? He has been on benefits for 3 years. Thats Your taxes" (joe has been on a hospital waiting list all that time)
Then they go to Joe- " you see that Kevin with is 3 kids next door. He earns a whopping £35k pa yet still gets things like housing benefits and child allowance"

And Britain as too many servile ignorant pricks to do a few clicks on a phone of tablet to understand what they are saying.
