he is a top talent. I can be very critical of him but let us be patient. he has come into the squad with a humble mentality. it would be nice to see him assert himself more but he is so new to be surrounded by such talent. let his confidence build before we Judge too harshly

I hope yesterday game is our last setback this seson, but Pep should bring him on before the final whistle in every single game so that some people can always scapegoat him and give him stick if the team under performs. He has never been a super sub according to Leicester fans, we should not expect him to change the fate of the game if he plays once the bus is parked and the damage is done. Our areas of improvement lie elsewhere (Aguiro and Fernandinho back-ups and LB)

Comprehensive analysis for another day but why did we lose TODAY?
Because our full backs - whoever seems to play there - are back to the ones of 2016. So important to the way we play but at present they aren't defending, offer little going forward and seem to be slow in possession. Oh and we still haven't figured how to cover Ferna when he's out.

Hi lads

Leicester fan here, thought I’d offer my opinion on Riyad.

Riyad has never been one to break down packed defences, one of the reasons Leicester struggled badly post title win was that opponents started sitting back against us and we didn’t have the answers. He’s always been best playing on the counter with lots of space to run into. He isn’t the fastest when countering, but makes up for it with one of the best first touches in the league. Pep probably recognises this which is why he’s started most games against the Big 6 teams but not started against the teams that sit back.

I also see a few comments that he should be tried centrally. While at Leicester, Riyad has been tried at 10 / centrally by each of the 4 managers. Every time, it turns out to be completely ineffective and the idea is shelved never to be seen again under that manager. Maybe Pep can work a bit of magic but I’m not convinced it would work.

He can also be, shall we say, a little ‘emotionally fragile’. He generally did not react well to being subbed or dropped at Leicester. He will have understood the reality that this would happen at Man City, but I do wonder if it’s finally starting to get to him, and affecting his form when he does play. It also must be said he’s never been an impact sub.

Even so, I see he’s still putting up pretty decent goal and assist numbers. He kept up good numbers here even with his head turned and being generally uninterested. He can be a lot better, as when he’s in the right frame of mind he’s unplayable, but he needs to sort his head out first.

That was my thoughts. Good on the break but not great at breaking teams down. Poor buy if that is the case as it would seem.

LCFC_BB thanks for your views on Mahrez. It sounds like he is a very limited player who found his ideal niche at Leicester so it surprises me that Pep wanted him so much.

I think Raheem and Bernardo are better options for the wide right position and it was not one that needed strengthening during the Summer.

Zaha (despite being a divey git) would seem to have been a better option as he can play anywhere across the front three.
