Riyad Mahrez - 2018/2019 performances

The fact that we didn't manage to keep Sancho and later on bought Mahrez to fill the void. Is one of the few things that have gone badly wrong in the past 2 seasons.

The last two seasons haven't been that bad!!

Can't see Mahrez ever being more than a back up though.

Poor again I thought. His passing seems lazy and therefore wayward. At least he took some shots.

Maybe next year it’ll click but at this point I’d be happier to see him replaced by anyone near equal to Sané and Sterling.

(As others have suggested before maybe Sané becomes a striker and Jesus a winger but we still need a better option than Mahrez.)

Much better. Couple of poor moments on the counter but forced the keeper into some good saves and his crossing was good. Should have had a pen too. I really like him and Kevin on the right, swapping positions. With walker on the overlap too it's really dangerous

He played okay. A much needed rest for Sterling and Bernardo and he helped create the second goal and tried to score himself a few times. A good few attempts to find Sane as well. He hasn't fully gelled with the team. I noticed last night that when he is on the ball our forwards tend to stand still because they're not quite sure what he is going to do.

When Sane and Sterling are on the ball they know they will look for a give and go or take the man on and get a cross/pull back. Mahrez is so tricky on the ball but the rest of the team tend to stand still unsure of what he wants them to do. And for me he should look to use the players around him more and run off them. But only through playing more will that connection develop.

Good assessment but I do think there are signs he is starting to fit in although still a bit short of where we need him to be.

I dread to think how much of the money we paid to agents last year went to his.

We spent £69m between Feb and Jan and £60m was for him.

We paid £24m to agents! Some will be for our existing players agents I’m sure but I assume a big chunk will be for his
