Not sure if that's a disagreement.
No denying David's brilliance - absolutely superb and often instant control - but I've never seen a player either instantly control a difficult ball, or take it instantly into his stride without pausing like Mahrez can, nor as perfectly so often as he seemed to do it last season.

Just a difference of opinion mate.

Whereas Mahrez takes it out of the air, he comes nowhere near Dave when it comes to actually taking control of the ball instantly under pressure.

Mahrez has the luxury of being told to keep the pitch wide, so defenders are never really touch tight.

Dave played in the pockets, right in the action, usually receiving with his back to goal, so his instant control is even more miraculous.

I find Mahrez's instant control out of the air impressive, but more one for the cameras.

Could control a ball instantly no matter how hard it was hit at him.

Not often I find myself not agreeing with you Tolm but this is one of those times.

Mahrez's first touch is unbelievable - regardless of if it's for the cameras (not sure how you'd control a ball differently if cameras weren't there). When we think of his touch, we all likely imagine the cross-field passes which he traps instantly but he often gets dead-end passes to his feet with his back to goal and a full back giving him a colonoscopy which he kills dead every time too.

For me, the best first touch in world football. Just so consistently fantastic.

Dave's first touch was brilliant too, of course.

For what it's worth, I totally agree with you, but Silva's magic was often positional and his second touch rather than his first! But we really have seen some spectacular players over the last decade, what an honour.
