Riyad Mahrez

I think this will get done pretty quickly tomorrow and also think the fee is done, just pandering going on to appease the Leicester fans and the media.

I hope he gets unveiled on SSN tomorrow by Kristy Gallagher and Natalie Sawyer, both wearing City bikinis.

I wouldn't get excited about this one, it isn't going to happen.

Reasons why:

1. Leicester will want close to 90m for him
2. City won't pay above 60m in my opinion
3. Too late in the window for Leicester to get a replacement.

Mahrez knows that its now or never to move to City. City want a wide player now to cover Sane, if he doesn't join this window City will be in for another player in the summer and will abandon the Mahrez chase. Can't see it happening at all.

The more I think about it, the more I think he'd be a great signing. Just think of that sinking feeling in your stomach you get when he cuts in from that right hand side and think how many opportunities he'd get to do that for us.

Surely if they were valuing him at 90 mil, that could have been including his contract payoff & bonuses, in spite of what the Leicester fan has said.

It might be a lot less due to the transfer request.
His transfer request was submitted in the summer, his latest one means nothing. It's just reiterating and trying to put pressure on the club, which won't work.

Chelsea bid £15m for Drinkwater on the summer deadline and we told them to get screwed despite his transfer request until we got what we wanted. Which was £35m. We got it and the transfer happened.

So far, if the bids are true then they are nothing more than an insult to the club You cannot buy centre backs for £57m, with no prem experience. And then expect to take the best player from a cash rich premier league team, a player who has won the title and the player of the year award, has more goals and assists than Coutinho and Hazard in the last 3 years, for less.

If he goes I'm happy for him to go to you guys over the others as I can't stand any of them and I've love seeing him in your set up. He'd thrive. I'm just annoyed about the timing an the pathetic bid, considering the market at the moment and the form he's in.

Not a lot to argue with in this post to be fair.

Really hope we can get this done. I think he’d be a brilliant addition. I keep reading from journalists and rival fans that City don’t need Mahrez, but going into the business end of the season with only three fit forwards (for three positions) would potentially jeopardise what could be a record breaking campaign. Makes much more sense to do summer business now.
This is what some people seem to be missing. As good as our season has been so far, our squad is still not deep enough to challenge on all fronts when we have injuries (and we always have injuries!). One more injury to an attacking player and the Champions League is an impossibility. The club won't want that. This season has the potential to be truly special, but we're going to throw that away by having too thin a squad? I doubt it. Get this deal done. The inflated fee will not be a problem when we're sitting on a treble.

What do they need a replacement for though ? To help them confirm that they can play their reserve team in the Europa League next season ?

Many of the agents, managers etc will fuck off on holiday etc next season & the transfer window shuts early August.

I'm sure that's why we are doing this now rather than because of Sané or ffp.

Mate their stance seems pretty clear from reporters today - Matt Law and John Percy in particular stating they value him close to £90million. There's no way both clubs will find a middle ground in 24 hours to conclude a deal. Leicester won't sanction a move for £60million and that'll probably be City's highest offer - at an educated guess. I sincerely hope I am wrong on that however. The usual ITKs on here say Leicester are talking about potential replacements which is good but that's a significantly high separation in value for this deal to be done now, in my honest opinion.

I agree with all that.

you forgot one thing.
last summer he didn't have Kia Joorabchian as his agent.
the same agent who brought Tevez from Rag to City.
