Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez responds to Roberto Di Matteo's Chelsea exit, and tells Sport 360 website: "I have just found out (about Di Matteo). Obviously Chelsea is a top side and they can compete for trophies so it goes in this category."

The former Liverpool boss is currently in Abu Dhabi where he works as a pundit. The website says he is due to fly to the UK tonight.

Bentitez adds: "In football a lot of people are talking so we will see what happens in the next few days. I am looking for a club that can challenge for trophies and Chelsea is one of these clubs."

I seriously have no idea how Benitez is even linked to the job, never mind favourite for it!
Absolutely shocking manager, failed at liverpool and then failed even worse at Inter.

I thought they'd be after Guardiola or even Harry
You can't see a Benitez link but you can a Twitcher one?
Twitcher got one club to the CL
Benitez has reached 2 finals, winning one of them.
I can see the link, though I agree he wouldn't be top of my wanted list if I was a Chavski fan.

He also won La Liga twice, usurping both Barca and Madrid in the process.

Im not having a go at you personally, but people generally on here (and elsewhere) who quote "facts" without checking them out. A prime example last season was the number of points City were ahead of United before 'blowing' their lead. When one of these so called facts is quoted enough times, it becomes true, even though it isnt.

Mourinho June 04 - Sept 07
Grant Sept 07 - May 08
Scolari Jul 08 - Feb 09
Wilkins Feb 09 - Feb 09
Hiddink Feb 09 - May 09
Ancelotti Jun 09 - May 11
AVB Jun - Mar 12
RDM Mar 12 - Nov 12

8 not 10
Didn't he also sack Ranieri?

Correct. In May 2004 which is..............8 years ago

So he took over the club in June 2003 and in 9 and a half years he is now about to appoint his ninth manager. Wilkins doesn't count as an appointment in my book. The next manager will be short term a bit like Hiddink was, so in the summer he'll be getting his tenth manager in to celebrate the ten year anniversary since he took over.

The funniest thing about it is. Roman is talking to pep now but the back up plan is Banetez( which is a good choice ) and then the other 1 boggles the mind Avram fukin grant hahahah seriously how does this clown keep getting jobs or linked to jobs... its like sven but avram is 10 times worse ---_--

Now that Rafa looks to be taking over at Chelsea can Pep Guardiola concentrate on sorting out the Middle East crisis, he's that good.

Rafa's record damaged by the way it ended up at Liverpool and he didn't do too well at Inter

It's on short term decision after another. Would be funny if they went for Rafa and then Guardiola went somewhere else. He'd fire Pep after 3 or 4 bad results anyway

Benitez to Chelsea done apparently.

Good appointment short or long term.
I don't reckon it's a good appointment either long term or short term. Don't rate him at all.

TS reporting that a journalist called Jason Burke reckons Abramovic is personally talking to Guardiola.

He's been trying to talk him down since he left Barca
Wasn't he supposedly phoning Pep every day in New York during the summer?
