Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez responds to Roberto Di Matteo's Chelsea exit, and tells Sport 360 website: "I have just found out (about Di Matteo). Obviously Chelsea is a top side and they can compete for trophies so it goes in this category."

The former Liverpool boss is currently in Abu Dhabi where he works as a pundit. The website says he is due to fly to the UK tonight.

Bentitez adds: "In football a lot of people are talking so we will see what happens in the next few days. I am looking for a club that can challenge for trophies and Chelsea is one of these clubs."

I seriously have no idea how Benitez is even linked to the job, never mind favourite for it!
Absolutely shocking manager, failed at liverpool and then failed even worse at Inter.

I thought they'd be after Guardiola or even Harry

Benitez has reached 2 finals, winning one of them.
I can see the link, though I agree he wouldn't be top of my wanted list if I was a Chavski fan.

He also won La Liga twice, usurping both Barca and Madrid in the process.

Im not having a go at you personally, but people generally on here (and elsewhere) who quote "facts" without checking them out. A prime example last season was the number of points City were ahead of United before 'blowing' their lead. When one of these so called facts is quoted enough times, it becomes true, even though it isnt.

So he took over the club in June 2003 and in 9 and a half years he is now about to appoint his ninth manager. Wilkins doesn't count as an appointment in my book. The next manager will be short term a bit like Hiddink was, so in the summer he'll be getting his tenth manager in to celebrate the ten year anniversary since he took over.

It's on short term decision after another. Would be funny if they went for Rafa and then Guardiola went somewhere else. He'd fire Pep after 3 or 4 bad results anyway
