Roberto Mancini

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

A lot of Inter Milan supporters are willing to give him a second chance but are still very sceptical on whether he can take them to European domination. During his first spell in charge Inter Milan had a more talented squad than City.

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

His problems in Europe and the dressing room make a return to England unlikely. Maybe for a club not expecting to be in Europe.

Re: Mancini on Sky talking about City

mancini will forever be a legend for me, sadly some players didn't like his style of discipline, as for the defence they were magnificent while he was boss, alas they are now 2 years older and getting more injury prone and slower, hence we need the likes of mangala, Fernando and fernandinio to start filling the boots of giants like kompany and yaya and zabaleta.

Said he still has the club in his heart and wouldn't rule out returning one day. He thought the 'Holistic' term was just nonsense the club said after they sacked him.

He said Pellegrini is a good manager and doing a good job, and that the team has improved. But the poignant thing he said was that the big players in the team - Yaya, Silva, Nasri, Aguero, were all players he brought to the club, (and Zabba and Kompany, who he clearly got the best out of.)

As I've said before, the last world class player we bought was Aguero in 2011. That's 3 and a half years since we bought a truly exceptional player. I think 3 things stick out about that:

1. That despite what some people might profess, FFP has already had a very real impact on our progress, and limited our ability to sign the best talent in the world.

2. Even Mancini's biggest critic must admit he was a very good judge of a player.

3. Txiki has done some excellent work, but the quality of the players he has brought in during the last 3 years have not greatly improved the first team so far.

Txiki has only had 2 summers.

He put us back on the map and will go down as one of the most important men in our history. But I don't pine for his return, he just isn't a top-of-the-line coach, he's better at building up projects with cash. Inter haven't been very good since returned. They just signed Podolski and Shaqiri and managed to lose to Torino at the San Siro last weekend.

Mancini is a legend. A couple of mouth breathers with their little agenda on an internet forum isn't going in the annals of MCFC history, Mancini is.

Stealing that!

As for Bobby he was the perfect manager for the time, but then things changed. He's fantastic at building a team, one of the best around I'd honestly say in that regard. I agree with T&B in that managers should be in cycles, Mancini was right for then just as it was right for pellers to take over, and as it will be when pellers is replaced.

There is a Bob thread in the general forum for those feeling the need.

This is for all things City, Bob is no longer City!
