Roberto Mancini's Champions league: STATS

His CL away record for us is the prblem - played 5, won 1 (Villareal) lost 4.

Nothing less than a win in Dortmund then, to start to improve on that!

Still think that 3 wins gets us into the KO stage - though not sure if I want it.
I want to retain the PL title more than anything else and going out of Europe, the EL in particular, would be a big plus on that particular front.

Maybe another trip to Wmbley in May too would be a nice way to round off the season!

Forza Mancini (and bollocks to all those who want him out!)

Yeah, it's HORRIBLE having one of the most successful coaches in the WORLD.

So, Kreskin, who is the next coach to go on a CL winning spree and how do we get him to the Etihad? OH, and it would be nice if he knew something about the Prem, so we actually QUALITY for the CL. AND, a trophy EVERY YEAR is required, because the current guy has done that for the first time in living memory for most of the fans here!

Accepting CVs.......

One of the most successful coached in the world? Why is that?

He won the Copa italia with Fiorentina Lazio and Inter? Ok that is a bit impressive but winning the cup is not a big deal in Italy like winning the FA cup is in England.

He won 3 consecutive league titles with Inter? Let us have a look how that happened

In 2005/2006 Juventus get relegated because of the big scandal and Milan get a 30 point deduction. If AC Milan did not get that deduction, they would have been league champions by a margin of 12 points on inter !

In 2006/2007 he had an amazing year, that is true. Inter finished on 97! points and had only one loss all season long. He also managed to win 17 games in a row that year. That is impressive. On a side note, they had no competition whatsover because Milan turned shit and Juve was in the Serie B.

In 2007/2008 he wins the league by only 3 points ahead of AS roma. Yes indeed AS fuking Roma that's how much competition from other teams he had. AC milan was utter shit and Juve just got back from the 2nd division.

Who the fuck are Lazio Roma??

smartiepants, He coached Lazio for one year and then he went to inter milan which we all know right? Didnt figure I had to put that down
Haha, have a cuppa and a biscuit mate - i'm just pulling your leg.

How we do in the CL doesnt overly bother me at this stage but the performances never seem to improve. What happened to going ahead (Madrid twice and last night) and then shutting up shop like Mancini used to be able to do 09/10 and 2010/11 style? He seems to have lost this ability.

Even after going 2-1 up at West Brom in the 91st minute they almost equalised.

After going 1-1 against Dortmund in the 90th minute they almost scored twice after.

We look like we dont have a midfield at times.

Ultimately though it really doesnt matter what we think. It is what the owners think that matters and the likely loss of another load of money will almost certainly mean another poor transfer window.Mancini cant really complain about that if it happens.

So what mate we are moving in the right direction, get behind the manager instead of pulling shit stats up! Yes he has a poor record in the champions league but he is learning and so are we. Get behind the manager

Given that this thread is specifically about the Champions' League, is there even a shred of evidence that we are moving in the right direction?

Well if we had last year’s group again I think we would of pissed it, it’s hard to tell because we are in the group of death and probably the hardest group ever in champions league

What on earth have you seen in the first three matches this season to suggest we would now piss a group with Bayern and Napoli? I can cope with not qualifying, it's a seriously tough group, but imo there is little doubt we have gone backwards this year in the CL and we haven't even made a fist of it so far.

Is he supposed to apologize for beating the other teams because they were shit (to hear you talk)?!

So, let's get rid of him. Who next? Who is the world class manager who is NOT going to come in and demand hundreds of millions MORE to get rid of the players he does not like and bring in "his" players?

Mourinho? Guardiola? Ancelotti? Hiddink? WHO.......?

Sheikh Mansour just gave Mancini a new gazillion pound contract for years. He is in the middle of building the best training facility in the world (except that it is in Manchester, not sunny Spain!), and he has invested about £1B in growing Man City into a global brand that will promote his own companies, Abu Dhabi and help turn HIS Man City into a force in European football. He is a patient man, a long term investor, and I doubt very much he is pacing his office wondering who to hire next.

Maybe he is, because I'm CERTAIN he is not happy about what he saw tonight, but I doubt it.

Wenger has never won it

dont panic boys!

its all well and good saying slurgie took six years and won it 2 in 17, but more often than not he at least gets to the fucking knockout stages!!

if were going in the right direction surely the knockout stages are the minimum we should be aiming for?! we wont get to the knockout stages so therefore were not moving in the right direction are we?

mancini is not new to the champs league so if hes still not got how to play in the cl hes not gonna.

We went to up in Madrid for fuck sake, we must defend far better in the champions league. If you don’t think we are moving in the right direction fine no problem that’s your opinion.

To be fair mate with that group we are in we was always fucked from day one
