Robi

He had a quiet game yesterday but so did Stevie Ireland. That's nothing to do with a lack of skill or effort but more to do with the type of game it was and that fat bastard allardyce teams just spend most of the game kicking the ball high in the air. It was just hard for them both to get into the game with their attributes and style of play. You just wait til next week against wolves
if that was ireland having a quiet game i can`t wait to see him have a good game!he scored a goal, tracked back won numerous tackles and headers and was instrumental in most good things city did, where as robi goes missing he has to get more involved or he`ll find himself being used as an impact player like he was at real madrid.

He's wasted playing wide left of a 4-4-2. If we're playing 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 he can at least drift about. But it was noticeable yesterday that Bellamy was usually ahead of Robinho and that Bellamy tended to favour the left channel. That meant he was often taking up the space that Robinho would naturally move into. Bellamy had a good game but almost by doing so he made Robinho less effective.

you surely wasnt watching the game..... apart from that goal, Ireland did very little, stop over exaggerating

I think he only got back from South America on Friday, or something like that - he looked knackered after 65 minutes, so Hughes took him off. The right decision in my book.

It wasn't his most effective game, but the fact that he drew Blackburn players away to the left to mark him, leaving Ade with space to score the first was a big part in that goal - which gave us the platform to win the game. He also had 2 shots on goal well saved by Robinson. That's a pretty good contribution for a player not having his most effective game I'd say.

As previous posters have pointed out - players like Robbie struggle a bit against long-ball merchants like Blackburn are now. He'll have plently of better games this season, and remains one of our most important players.

Bang on the money for me

he looked very dejected as he came off. did he have a knock. i personally love the man. he was the fist major signing and he will fit in well with the squad like that. blackburn are a very dirty and physical side so may not suit him. still love him

your deluded and if you were to look at the stats for tackles won ,headers and the amount of ground he covered during the game irelands stats are right up there, his contribution to the team when we didn`t have the ball was top class! whats he got to do for you score a hat trick and juggle fire at half time!

I agree, people on here tend to tell "fishing tales" when they talk about academy players.

Do not get me wrong, I do not think anyone had a bad game yesterday. But Ireland was anonymous in the first half. He made more runs in the second, but aside from the goal did not offer a great deal.

On the other hand, Robbie was attempting to mve the ball around, he took some great shots (that were unlucky to have saved) and move all around the pitch (interchanging with the other midfielders).

oki he not work like tevez ,but the thing with robbi is there isnt many players who can do things he does, when you play top teams who cancel each other out, you need players who can unlock the defense, players can and do things a little different, its a team game and it takes all types of players to make a successful team, if hes shit for 89 minutes but then scores a cracker and you win.. thats oki for me
